The rooms are okay but need both cleaning & renovating

We liked the attractive outward appearance of the property, with a restaurant & well-maintained garden Staff were friendly & helpful & changed their normal breakfast menu to better suit our needs Easy walk to supermarkets & shops. Hiking trails about 20-30 minutes walk away

The beds are really old and uncomfortable, the mattress is almost non existent. The staff are nowhere to be seen when you need them. There was no running water. I know it's cheap, but these are basic necessities for accommodation.

Nice location for walking. Tasty breakfast with tea and free water refill is really appreciated. The people working there are kind and willing to help.

The bathroom was a massive problem for us. There was no sink so you had to brush your teeth and spit it in the toilet. Having a sink is really necessary in a room. Even for basic things like washing hands. There was also no shower and no toilet flush. Only a bucket that made everything quite complicated. I hope they will fix this for future guests.

Staff was friendly. Central Location. Could check in earlier.

Overall worth the money but don't expect to get much sleep. Best to go for 1 night and wake up early for sunrise.

Cons: Mattresses are old, so you are basically sleeping on hard wood. Shower works only sometimes and it's cold water only. It might get cold during the night since the blankets are very thin. Ofc you will be woken up by screams of 3 overlapping mosques at 5 am - but that's a gold standard in Indonesia.

You get what you pay for. Pros: the place is clean, they make very good breakfast, it has good location and atmosphere.

where to begin? First of all, the “private bathroom” has no shower and not even a sink nor running water. For the money they charge in Indonesia we have even have pool. There was no towels nor toilet paper and when asked it took them 8 hours to bring them. Worst of everything the family owning the place seems to have no idea what a hotel is about and shows no respect for the guest right to rest. At 5 am they started shouting at each other, singing and laughing in front of our door with no acre or empathy for the people who generated their income. Also they tried to avoid giving us breakfast on the pretext that they had cooked spicy Indonesia dishes that morning “and you don’t like spicy, do you?”. The girl running the place smiles but don’t fall in the trap of their demagogic kindness, because they don’t really care you are there.

The girl who owns the place is nice person and speaks brilliant English.

It was not obvious how/where to check in, so we had to shout around a bit as we couldn't find the hosts on arrival! No other problems. :)

We loved our stay here, were really sad to only stay one night. The room was very clean and comfortable (floor was freshly washed on our arrival!) with a good firm mattress and some useful furniture for baggage and clothes etc. We had a really exceptional home-cooked dinner, and coffee and breakfast too. The hosts were so kind and welcoming, and made a huge effort to help us out despite the language barriers. They also helped us with figuring out transport from Mataram to Sembalun (in the end, we got the Damri bus from Mataram in the morning, but we could have also arranged a driver). The location is convenient for starting the sunrise hike to Bukit Pergasignan too, and there are good cafes and warungs nearby. Note there was no shower (or maybe there was, but I don't think it worked) instead a mandi and scooper, which we didn't mind at all, but something to note for others.

Tresno Sembalun Homestay gave us cozy, clean and calmed place to rest while trekking the mountains around. The mattress is just right, there is window on each side of the room, there is your own little table in front of the room to enjoy breakfast in private with mountain view around. The room is enough big to put your stuff out of the bagpack and there is also big garden where you can chill, dry your clothes or your camping stuff after trekking. There was no problem to leave our motorbike and other stuff when going out for 3 days. Miss Tristina and her mum are very friendly, helpful and they cook the best breakfasts ever! We also asked for a dinner and we got super delicious fish what recovered us the best after Rinjani trek :)

The toilets were western but had to be flushed with a bucket. Bathroom was traditional wash type and no hot water. It is cheap so you get what you pay for.

The owners were fantastic and so helpful. They gave us a welcome drink and they made us pisang goreng with tea and coffee before breakfast - served to our rooms. Then we had nasi goreng for breakfast. They helped us with suggestions about places to visit and dinner ideas. The location was a bit too close to mosques but I don’t think there is any place that isn’t close!

Somebody mentioned the cold shower, but it is a really fair price and that's why it doesn't include hot shower. Also someone mentioned it was cold in the room, I can not confirm that and we had enough blankets to keep warm! I liked everything about the stay :)

It was a great stay! The family is so super friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome from the first minute. I liked the views from the homestay and the room was also clean and comfortable. Breakfast was spot on! Really good nasi goreng with egg, coffee and little banana pancakes. I really recommend staying with this family! They are great people. If you wanna stay in Sembalun, this is a really good option for a cheap price!
