Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room had everything needed for my week stay. The family is so sweet. It felt like a true home away from home, tucked away so it was quiet but close enough to the palace and busy areas to walk. The breakfast includes picking from a menu (not just toast like some places), and loved everything I tried! They even have a mosquito plug in the room and brought the mosquito incense every morning outside. The only thing I didn’t like was the shower setup, tended to spray up above my head so I had to take it off of the hook and use the handle.

CanadaThe only real minus is the musty smell in the room. They sealed off the air vents with plastic, which keeps the mosquitos out but also impedes air circulation and the fan and aircon only help a bit with this. It would be better if they replaced the plastic with mesh.
Friendly hosts, always ready to help. Good location a short walk to the center but far enough away from the noise and pollution. Big, spacious room with lots of shelves, nice private terrace with fridge, dishes and a water dispenser. Good hot water and water pressure. They offer a nice breakfast and even meals at other times (at reasonable prices) if you're feeling lazy to go out, but there are plenty of warungs and convenience stores in the neighborhood if you're not.

BelgiumI wouldn’t say it’s a dislike but being close to the forest, you will of course hear and meet animals , there was some noise of animals on the roof at night, at first I was a bit scared haha but it might have been just a cat, mouse or wild bird. So nothing bad per se bad, but good to be aware of.
Wonderful unique homestay, overlooking a beautiful forest while still being in walking distance to nice sights in Ubud and great restaurants and the art market. The owners are very nice and took great care of us, even water was provided, tea and coffee.

United KingdomThe bathroom needs an update but was ok. The bathroom floor tiles and the steps up to the room were slippy when wet.
Lovely place. Nice terrace to sit on. I had breakfast as an extra and it was nice and good value. The shower was hot. There was no traffic noise. However, there were other buildings around so there was noise from them. About 15 minutes to walk to downtown.

SwedenThe curtains could be better at prohibiting sunlight from brightening up the room in the early morning but that’s only personal preference.
The owner, Eka is the nicest man we meet in Bali! He offers great hospitality and really makes you feel at home. Room is very clean with a big bathroom. Location is nice, quite central but still away from all of the noice and crowds.

United StatesUnfortunately, relatives within the family compound were constructing two new units during my stay, so many mornings started with hammering and sawing before 8am. :-( So, ask if there will be construction during your stay dates. If so, and you want to sleep in (or need quiet for video conferencing, etc.), it may be an issue.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, good & reliable WiFi, a lovely little balcony, and nicely isolated from everyday street noise. :-)

CanadaBathroom is a little dark, there were ants in the room the first night, however I didn't see them the other three nights. The only issue I had was that I paid for laundry service, but recieved back my clothes still damp and I had to hang dry them at my next location. But overall that's not a huge issue as I stayed somewhere not far away.
Very wonderful family run business. It was great to stay in a local Balinese compound. Koming was very helpful and friendly, The family is there, really cute dog that loves pets. The room was clean. Lovely outdoor area with chairs table, kitchenette and fridge, as well as fresh water supply for teas and to fill water bottle. A little further away from the main strip which is great if you are renting a scooter, if walking it is a little bit of a hike up from the main parts, but no more than 10 minutes. Very good hot water and pressure in the shower, unique shower set up with stones was something I haven't seen before. Aircon works very well.

I loved my stay with Koming and her lovely big family! The atmosphere there is so nice, the family is very welcoming and children are excessively cute:)) Koming is a wonderful host, very honest and a bit reserved, she worked as an English teacher before (but was forced to quit her job because of sickness of her daughter) and her English is great. Koming’s mother (who looks like her sister:)) is a charming and wonderful lady. I just fell in love with this family! Koming and her family own 2 rooms and the rest of the rooms in their house belong to her uncle, as far as I understand. One room, on the upper floor, is more modern and new and has a view from the top. It is very beautiful! The room where I stayed in the basement is older and made in traditional style. It has its own wonderful kitchen and boasts 5 times more kitchenware than at the place where I am staying now with a communal kitchen serving 7 rooms:) I spent a lot of time outside of the room on the terrace (which is combined with the kitchen) making tea, coffee, having snacks, fruits, etc. As the icing on the cake, when you wake up in this room (or just spend time inside), you have a feeling that you are sleeping in the garden thanks to many windows . Such a divine and cozy feeling. Last but not least: I was stunned to discover a gorgeous big “temple” (as I initially thought) just a 2-minute walk from Umah Ubud. It popped up in front of me out of nowhere. As I found out, it is a house of one of the princes’s of Ubud (if the information is correct) and he restored it about 10 years ago. The palace has an aquarium inside and boasts with bright lights of different colors in the evening. Behind it up the hill you will find a cute peaceful rice field. It is very beautiful by day and night! Puri Langon is a hidden gem and is much more beautiful than famous temples in the center of Ubud. It is highly recommended to visit it. You will be definitely surprised!

AustraliaThe roosters will wake you up at around 4-5am! But I think roosters are everywhere around the area, you can’t really avoid them. This forced me to get up early so I didn’t mind too much.
Very cosy private room and bathroom with nice balcony, you can watch the sunset. I love the shower , it was huge and beautifully decorated with stones. Very good vibes from place and owners who were exceptionally friendly. Cute kids living there too. I felt very safe here so would recommend to solo female travellers. Fruit market is 5min walk too, great mangos! A lot of things to do in walking distance.
