Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Australiaapparently the hostel rule of " Anti social, loud, or aggressive behaviour will result in expulsion " does not apply to the hostel staff themselves. Had a staff member hammering outside our door Monday morning, he was really hostile toward me when i asked what was going on, then reception tried to tell me it was a council worker and they couldn't do anything about it? Then when I questioned the situation further it turns out it WAS a staff member and he started saying things like "Fine I'll f off then" and "there's always one!!". Anyway, I received zero empathy, no apology, and checked out feeling like I'd just been bullied and gaslit by both of the staff. Would have been a totally fine stay if not for that 🤡
Room was clean, bed comfy, facilities fine, check in staff nice.

United KingdomBit noisy in the evening but it is a bar as well as a hostel so was to be expected . Didn’t last too late though.
Central location very close to bus and railway station.Bus stop to Blarney castle and Paddywagon tours few minutes walk away. Food shops, restaurants and takeaways nearby. The room was clean with comfortable bed and good en-suite facilities .Hostel also included a well equipped kitchen and seating area for guest use. A minimal breakfast was included and served in the bar area. Sufficient tea, coffee, cereal, fruit juice and toast were provided. The bar had a great atmosphere with friendly staff.

United KingdomCleanliness especially in the kitchen could have been improved. Also one bathroom between each room was a bit tricky to manage but not the worst thing.
Really great atmosphere with great guests. Having the bar downstairs with live music every night (which you couldn't hear in the rooms!) was great! Would defo stay here again if I was in Cork.

IrelandThe window is broken and can't close beside bed number 1&2, and I have a special request, a botlle of mineral💧 water to the reception, they didn't offer me.
The location is 👌 perfect in the city centre of cork. I am happy, and the hospitality is great.

IrelandRoom was on the third floor which was a bit of an inconvenience, especially when I forgot my room key when going to the bathroom and had to go to reception for a spare. The staff was very helpful though.
I had accidentally booked for the wrong day and the staff was able to quickly and easily rebook me for that night. I ended up having a four bed room to myself which was pretty sweet.

FranceThe room doors that you have to slam hard to close. It awakes the entire building every time someone enters or leaves a room.
The staff was so nice, the location was perfect, the bed was comfy, bathroom was functional. Breakfast was included. The bar downstairs had live music playing when I arrived (I didn't stay to enjoy it but it's nice to have that kind of entertainment at the place you're staying). There are also lockers downstairs where you can store your luggage for the day or more after checking out, which is a real plus when you only stay one night and go sightseeing the next day, and it's cheaper than most apps or luggage storage places!!

United StatesAt the end of the day it’s a hostel, there’s not much space in the room but what do you expect? If you’re doing anything more than sleeping in the room you’ve got messed up priorities.
The location was excellent, everything was exceptionally clean and the staff went above and beyond to help us figure out how to use the bus to get to other nearby towns.

Bru Bar & Hostel was a great stay. I had a late flight into Cork and checking in past midnight was no problem at all. Having the private bathroom in a 4 bed dorm was fantastic as there wasn't ever a wait for the bathroom. It was so quiet throughout the hostel as well even with staying during the busy end of a week. Will absolutely book again!

United KingdomIt would have been nice to be taken to the bedroom, although there was signage on the walls guiding me.
I arrived very late and the bar remained open and was able to give me the keys past 1pm. I took some time to find the room but settled in quickly and was able to sort my stuff out in the bathroom so as not to disturb the other girls sleeping

BrazilWe stayed in a double bed room, and it was pretty nice! The bathroom were clean, and had a good shower. The room was spacious and had a great view. We got a little afraid that the bar noise would be a problem, but it wasn't at all. Actually, it turned out to be really nice to have a bar this close in our stay. Also, everything was done in less than a 10 minutes walk - it's really near from the railway and bus station.
