Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe stay at your hotel did not fulfill our expectations of a four-star hotel. In particular, this concerns the use of the Executive Lounge – Offering a large selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages as well as a variety of snacks according to your website. This promotion does not reflect reality. Compared with executive lounges in other hotels in Europe the guest did not approximately get a reasonable equivalent for the additional costs. We immediately complained this to the reception staff and asked for cancelling the executive lounge for the next days, later also per mail. With exception of a one-off special at our room - a nice touch, no subsequent improvement could be discovered. It is very unfortunate that the hotel did not accommodate our wish. Furthermore, we had also appreciated the information about the the construction site next door on the website. Early in the morning, the noise of the construction starts and affects sleep. These complaints made our stay very unpleasant at The Alex. Consequently, we will not recommend the hotel and rate it accordingly on booking.com.

United KingdomWhen a complaint was made to the night manager about the poor standard of service from the bar staff, he told my wife that we could go else where. When I tried to get his name from another staff member, he threatened me. This was witnessed by other guests who where able to confirm this to the Day manager the following morning.
The room was very comfortable, clean and modern

United Kingdomhad a few interactions with staff members that were not very hospitable, also made to feel quite awkward during breakfast as constantly could overhear arguments amongst waiters / waitresses with head host. didn’t distract from how good the food / drink was though
really well presented with good clean facilities and very good breakfast options

United KingdomThe hotel was beautiful. The room was clean and very comfortable. Unfortunately when we returned after 11pm hoping to enjoy a couple of drinks at the hotel bar the problems started. The staff were unable to pour a pint, they forget to bring drinks to other guests and when one complained to the night manager he was asked to take the discussion outside!! They then closed the hotel bar and refused to serve any of the hotel guests. We complained to the manager in the morning but unfortunately haven’t heard anything yet. I hope he dealt with the complaints appropriately as it really dampened our stay.

IrelandThere was a serious issue with staff. It felt like they had temps in, who hadn’t a clue - they looked like deer caught in headlights. Went to the bar for a couple of drinks after the Eagles gig, and there was a 20 minute wait, even though there were 4 bar staff and a small crowd of people. The manager just looked around and told the other 3 what to do, without getting involved himself. The glass of Prosecco I ordered was as flat as a pancake. Ordered another one, and same thing, so obviously from the same bottle. I just gave up at this stage. We were a bit peckish and wanted a bar snack, but there was not a crisp or a nut to be had. Was told by a barman that we should’ve got some snacks ourselves in the shop on way back to hotel. Bar then closed super early - no residents bar. Then in the morning at 8am we had housekeeping talking amongst themselves very loudly outside our door, and knocking on all the room doors near us! Came to ours at 8.30am, knocking and shouting “housekeeping!”. I nearly hit the roof. 8.30am on a Saturday morning, away from the kids for a night and we’d that to deal with. Needless to say I was up then for the day. Was this a ploy to get people up and out early??? Seemed like it, and it was completely unacceptable. Nice rooms and lovely location, but for €245 per room (our friends had another room) plus dinner plus drinks, I’d expect a better standard and I was seriously disappointed.
I liked the location, and how spacious and clean the bedrooms were.

United KingdomCustomer service was extremely poor which greatly affected the quality of our stay. Basic information on check in was not provided. Given key cards to rooms and when trying to operate lift, we were not informed that you need to scan your card to select a floor. There was no instructions in the lifts either. Eventually we were able to figure it out! After returning from the concert we proceeded to order a drink from the bar, which seemed to have been manned by inexperienced staff, took nearly 20 mins to get a drink, the bar was in no way busy! And after the wait, Pint had to be returned as it was off! Check out experience wasn't great either. I followed email instructions and checked out online, proceeded to reception to drop the keys, to which I noticed a wooden post type box on the counter, I proceeded to ask reception staff if that is where I should put the keys, to which, the staff looked at me as if I was speaking a different language. I had to ask again, to which the reply was just "Yes!". Can I suggest that a small sign be applied to the box to instruct customers and also some signage in the lifts.
Beautiful hotel. Very nicely decorated and very central to Dublin Centre and Aviva Stadium. Car Parking was just a short walk away.

IrelandService in the bar was slow, staff not very attentive for drinks we sat with empty glasses for quite some time. The food is only decent nothing more, and the beef taco starter is way over priced for two cold mouthfuls. Housekeeping came into our room at 8:20am while we were still asleep. Our room was only barely ready at 3pm and I think only for Gareth at reception pushed for it we would not have been in our room at that time at all. The Alex is trying to be fancy and upmarket but isn’t quite hitting the mark just yet.
The Alex is clean and nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable, shower in the bathroom was good. location was fairly handy, we had a concert in the 3 arena and could walk there in approx 25 minutes.

Good location. Quiet. Furnishings very nice, lobby and cafe decent. Staff were accomodating with finding a room for earlier check in.

United KingdomThe radio in the room didn’t work. asked rice for it to be fixed and even when they came it didn’t work. Some snacks in the fridge would have been nice. There was not enough milk & sugar in the rooms and the lady they sent brought 1 tiny milk- but couldn’t speak English to ask for more…
Our room wasn’t ready after our flight so we got an upgrade. It was a lovely room.

I agreed to pay at the desk . the following morning whilst I was eating breakfast a member of staff approached me and put a card machine in my face to pay the bill . needless to say I was mortified. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom which made the stay uncomfortable for my girlfriend

IrelandThe couple next to us at breakfast were asked to pay for their meal before their breakfasts were finished. I thought it was rude to interupt their meal. Normally you wait until the meal is completed before putting a visa machine at the table looking for payment
