Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThey advertised that each bed had its only power supply and light, these are all nonfunctional in the entire building. One two power points in the room, which was ridiculous. The rooms weren’t very clean, had to ask several times for the shower drain to be checked as it clogged and flooded within two minutes of having a shower. Stayed in a female only room and woke up one morning to a random guy that had been placed there overnight. When I asked the staff about it, they had a good laugh and didn’t even bother to come get him, I had to ask him to leave. Beds are shit and super uncomfortable.

United StatesOur outlets didn't work. When we talked to the front desk, they told us it was because there was remodeling going on. Why didn't they tell us beforehand when checking in or offer us another accommodation? We also arrived and checked the beds and one had a disgusting, giant stain on the bottom side of the mattress of who knows what. The mattresses are very thin and not secure so it was easy to pick up and check. About a day later, we got back from a long tour and had a letter on our door that said they were going to do maintenance in the room. So they went into the room when we weren't there and gave us a notice the day of when we were already gone. There should've at least been a notice the early morning of or the night before so we could've seen it when leaving our room for the day. And we thought "oh yay, they must've fixed the outlets." They did not, so who knows what they did. One thing I really did appreciate is that the shower was in a separate room from the toilet and sink. So it was easy for everyone to get ready at an organized pace.

GermanyThe staff was not really friendly, the only washroom in the common area was not clean at all at any time, everything has to be payed extra – stuff that is usually included in hostels. The lights / outlets on the bed did not work. I found a dirty sock and candy wrappers in my freshly made bed.
The location is great, the rooms are decent.

United KingdomPower in the bunk beds wasn’t working so there were no reading lights or personal plug sockets. It had apparently been like that for weeks so the location doesn’t seem to care about fixing. Makes getting into bed at night a struggle and awkward to charge devices from sockets elsewhere in the hostel.

United StatesThere is no guest kitchen. There are many hidden fees. They charge for things that are free other hostels. You want a bottom bunk? 3€. You want to check in early or check out late? 5€. You want to store luggage before or after? 5€. These are just a few of many hidden fees. Those fees are not disclosed until your booking becomes non cancelable.
Location is great.

IrelandInsanely long queue to check in when we arrived. Bar staff was unfriendly and clearly just wanted to close up when we arrived for one drink after a concert before going to bed (bearing in mind it was just after 11pm and last call for bars is generally 11.30pm in Ireland). Facilities wise - nearly constant noise of water filling in the toilet in the room.
It has a great location right next to a luas stop, pretty cheap stay if you’re just looking for somewhere to put your head down for the night.

BelgiumHello, Upon our stay at your hostel last night we came across a problem. We were a group of five of wich several had bites and itching after the morning. We checked the bites and on several persons they were simiral to those of bed bugs. I would like to send you photos to show you wich is why I asked for you e-mail. This is something we take very seriously as this had some consequences. We all had to was all our travel stuff and clothes several times etc. For a stay in a hostel wich costs us 180 euro, wich is a lot, this is unacceptable. I do hope you take this as seriously as we do and we expect a compensation. We feel responsible for other travelers like us and would like to alert them for problems like this. Kind regards, Oumeima

IrelandThe staff wasn't accommodative at all during check-in & behaved very rudely especially a guy with specs at the reception. All the sockets and reading lamps were not working. So you get two common charging sockets between 6 people in a dorm room which was very inconvenient.
The only good thing about this place was its location.

Germanythe power didn't work! so in a room of 6 we had only two working plugs, the mattresses aren't comfortable, the sheet never stays on top of the mattress because it doesn't have elastics, the bunk beds shake a lot so you feel every movement, everything costs a lot of money, felt impersonal, the view out of the hostel room was depressing

United KingdomThe added fee to rent a locker if you arrived before check in time, I thought most accommodations would hold a bag free of charge. One of the reception staff was rude and dismissive, despite a request not being completed that was requested hours before. There was a strange smell from the bathroom, it smelt like there was a drainage problem. The room was very noisy with some sort of overhead fan that could not be switched off from within the bedroom.
Overall the location of the hostel was great and there is a good atmosphere within the hostel

AustraliaWas informed upon arrival that no power was available in the bunks. I stayed 7 nights. There were only two outlets between eight people all having to charge phones, headphones, laptops etc. This essentially placed a huge strain on planning my days as only two people could charge phones overnight. When explaining this I was told I would not recieve a partial refund despite the fact that I was not given prior notice (i would have booked elsewhere given my phone has a poor battery life). Some Staff also often appeared disinterested and dismissive. I was also double charged, which I inquired about and was dismissively told that it will be fixed. So far nothing has come through in 8 days (which may change in which case I will update the review). Ultimately would have been a much better stay if staff were more helpful at resolving issues.
Right near tram stop, very much in the CBD. Bed relatively comfortable and bar/restaurant nice. Checkin in and out very easy.

AustraliaHowever, the hostel had no working power outlets in the bedrooms which was ridiculous as they didn’t mention this prior. They did offer power banks but because I didn’t have a license on me to give them as collateral they refused to give me a power bank so I had to spend hours each day charging my devices in the lounge space rather than exploring the city. Also, one staff member had a lot of attitude when I was asking him if I could pay for a towel in cash, rather than just say we only accept card I got a “here we go again”. Mind you they charge 5 euros for the towel. I had way nicer experiences at smaller hostels over this place.
The hostel was clean and it was well situated in the city.
