How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A little room in the bathroom or bedroom for toiletries, makeup etc and a mirror.

The owner gave a warm welcome and was there if we needed any assistance. The rooms were big, modern and spotless, particularly the bathrooms, which are finished to a very high standard with excellent showers. The beds were very comfortable and the room was lovely and toasty. It’s located in the outskirts of Tullamore which meant easy access to the town. We will definitely be staying here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the place to anybody!

Cant think of any dislikes!
Breakfast was superb , fresh food , pleasantly presented and fulfilling. Location was a little difficult to find if not familiar with the area.

Location is about a 20 minute walk to the downtown area, limiting options for meals.
Very friendly and considerate hosts. Room was very comfortable. Full breakfast available for a nominal additional charge.

Lovely owners, very accommodating, helped us get to train station. Nice breakfast, very clean comfy room. Nice bright room with great view. Would definitely use again.

Breakfast was very nice, selection of cereals, lots of toast with butter and jam, tea coffee fruit juice, and nicely cooked Irish Breakfast. Marie's breakfast always looked forward to. Room very comfortable and relaxing, also walk in shower very good (plenty of water pressure).

Great location walkable to town short drive to Tullamore D.E.W., easy check-in spacious rooms with ensuite bathroom, clean, beautifully landscaped property on a quiet end of the road.

The property was centrally located and very comfortable and spotlessly clean.The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would very highly recommend Coreen guest house.

The home was not labeled with a name or address, we had to rely on the photo from the Booking document.
The Guest Home was a terrific home away from home. The room was clean and well appointed with outstanding linens, coffee/tea service and the host accommodated our early arrival.

Joe and his daughter Eve were very welcoming and accommodating hosts for my one-night stay. I really enjoyed chatting with both of them when I arrived and during breakfast the following morning, and as a bonus they had an incredibly friendly and well-behaved little dog. The room itself was nice--the bed was plenty comfortable (there was a queen mattress and a twin mattress) and it had an en suite full bathroom, and it was totally quiet even with someone staying in the next room over. It's only about a 10-minute walk from the train station and about a 20-minute walk from the town center, so it's a very accessible location if you're able and willing to walk a bit. Joe kindly offered to drive me to town for dinner after I arrived and to the train station in the morning when I was leaving town. All told, I really appreciated their hospitality and hope I'll get a chance to pass through again in the future.

The mattress and pillows.
This is essentially a bedroom in someone’s home. The bed was not comfortable. There was plenty of hot water in the shower. Everything was clean. The breakfast was very good. It was a definite no frills stay. The only bad thing was the mattress!
