Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandBefore booking I rang and asked about vegan breakfast options and was told yes just to ask. When we went for breakfast all I could eat was toast and there was no margarine on the first day, so toast and jam or golden syrup. There was some fruit and cereal. When I asked if they had soya yoghurt they said no. So apart from toast and cereal there wasn't much. No protein at all. The breakfast staff were very grumpy all three mornings when I asked for soya milk and oat milk for my son. I also found it strange that there was an extra charge for speciality coffee such as cappuccino or americano. This is a 4 star hotel and other 3 star hotels offer it without charge. Room cleaning wasn't the best either. I had dropped a grape and it stayed on the floor for our entire 3 night stay. Overall a bit disappointing
The room was ok, the fruit on arrival was lovely and the wine. The proper coffee in the rooms was also appreciated. The staff at the adventure centre were great and very helpful, so was the night desk person on our arrival. My kids loved their dinner at the restaurant.

IrelandIn general food was not good. I would be very surprised that a chef would send out onion rings and chips burnt to the point that they wet black and crumbled. The library should be turned into a bar where you can have a relaxing drink. A lovely coffee dock would also be good to have but most important if you are staying in a remote area the food needs to be good
Very relaxing

United StatesStaff on check-in was rushed and a bit unpleasant. Our travel companions room was cold and thermostat for his room was in another room! Room seemed a bit 'worn'. Spa access limited / expensive. No staff of offer guidance on hiking or other activities.
Beautiful location and great launching spot for exploring Connemara. Breakfast offerings were good.

IrelandIt wasn't clear on the booking form that you had to pay extra for the use of a jacuzzi. This is €20 each and the jacuzzi even had cold water coming from the jets. I have been to many spa hotels and never had to pay extra for a jacuzzi. After the price of the hotel, this just seems greedy to expect more. There were other people in the jacuzzi area who didn't know until after going to book. I don't think a spa hotel should charge people extra for use of this. If you examine the page all the way down, it will say 'additional charge' so the hotel might come back with 'It is in the information', but it is not clear and have to look for it and it's just a bit cheap really.

United KingdomThe floors creaked from the corridor to the point it felt like someone was stomping about in your room. It was unnerving for all of us, but especially the children. The staff in the restaurant were inexperienced and almost rude. Especially the managers (to their staff!) it was not a nice atmosphere at all and there was no where else to go! It was also very expensive and quality of food mediocre at best.
The rooms were ok.

FrancePoor pint of Guinness. I didn't even finish it. Terrible wifi, really really poor. Absolutely no mobile signal either. Location is a bit out of the way and probably very beautiful but it was hard to tell with all the low cloud and constant rain.
Buffet Breakfast. It was fine, a goodish choice but nothing special. Didn't have any other meals Staff were chatty, helpful, nice and friendly. A big thanks to the staff.

For a 4 ster hotel I expected a pool. Staff were pleasant but seemed lacking experience. Having to pay extra for facilities is not something I find familiar in a four star hotel.

IrelandBreakfast : The coffee was undrinkable and espresso drinks were an extra charge. The fresh fruit choices were limited and not very tasty. Pastries were tasteless. Cooked food was not very freshly cooked/tasty
The room was nice but overly hot. We were in a loft room which while it looks attractive is actually very inconvenient with bathroom and wardrobes/drawers downstairs. Also hazardous for nighttime visits to the bathroom. I needed to use the bathroom and fell down the last 3 steps at the 90 degree turn when there was a break in the handrail. I was severely bruised and shaken although - luckily, didn’t break anything. At the time I didn’t bring this to the attention of the staff because I was shocked but on reflection it was bound to happen (to someone.). I’m probably not the first person to trip on these unsafe stairs. The library was comfortable but it was very difficult to read in it as many people seemed to be using it as a meeting and chatting space, making it impossible to concentrate on reading ( which is what a library is supposed to be).

IrelandThis was advertised as having a jacuzzi included but it was 20e per person for the jacuzzi for less than an hour so 40e on top of the price for the hotel. I was absolutely shocked as that charge was not made known at any time whatsoever until I was after signing into the spa! In my opinion It was really deceptive and I was very annoyed about it. They were also unbothered that they did not intend to give me a proper breakfast at 7:30 or 7:45 but it turned out there was so many people in our group seeking same that they did provide it ultimately but when I was checking in there was no concern at all that they had charged me for a full breakfast and did not intend to provide it to me. 7:30 is not early for breakfast. The car park was also a problem as there was not enough parking space.
It was a nice building

IrelandSadly the other staff members from the reception to the Spa were not so professional: as I called the hotel in advance of our stay, I received very short answers and the wrong information about spa opening hours. I felt noone was kind to spend time on the phone with me explaining the various treatments. I was told to "read the brochure". On the first night, the person on duty did not help when I asked for some paracetamol (there is nowhere in Lenanne to buy at that time - this is something any hotel should be able to facilitate to their clients). Check-in time at 4pm is too late in my opinion. Especially when the room is not even ready - our door was open, the room was cold and there were not enough towels or spa robes in the bathroom. Overall disappointing.
The very kind staff (from Argentina) who came clean our bathroom as we accidentaly broke a glass in the bathroom. Super efficient and helpfulf professionals. Also very good breakfast and stunning location.

IrelandI found the reception unprofessional quiet rude when checking in . They had lost our room key and seen laughing and running around questioning where the key was while we stood waiting . I found there was so right seating at the bar to enjoy a few drinks before dinner was sat on a highstool cramped in a corner around few people dining . We had picked the restaurant to eat felt as if there was no difference from the bar no separation . 3 times we had get up and ask for what we needed no one came to table to check on. The Menus also had drink/food stains very unpleasant. I asked for a new drink i was given the can and no new glass. I wont be going again as it wasn't a great atmosphere.
The resort is based in a beautiful connemara setting in the mountains. Nice open car park & activities all around.

IrelandThe staff were rude and extremely unhelpful , our room was so hot we were able to sit in it and we were met with hostility and rudeness when we asked that the heat be turned off . We were told there was no fan for us to help cool down our room. Eventually a manager got involved and contacted maintenance to have our radiator turned off in our room. The food in the restaurant was extremely poor quality and overpriced . I would not mind paying the price of the quality of food matched it . It was 11pm by the time we got to settle our small children to sleep in our room because of Manager/staff in and out of our room regarding the radiator issue . We drove 4 hours with two small children they were exhausted! I can't believe this hotel has 4 stars .

United KingdomWe were in the beautiful courtyard but so It would be helpful on arrival if you are directed to park your car near where you can access your room with your luggage more easily than dragging it all through the hotel corridors and doors especially after a long drive . It would also be helpful for assistance in this or at least the offer of assistance to the more mature guests. The rooms are clean but dated . Small bedside locker with a massive bedside lamp on it so no room on the top of it The bath/shower had a glass half screen door over the bath which made it awkward to get in and out of it and also to position the door to avoid water all over the floor when showering was tricky Self service breakfast quality was ok with plenty of choice and again a lovely setting and good staff but personally I don’t want to listen to anthem type music in the mornings ( this is commonplace in many establishments ) with no escape from it while eating
Beautiful setting , in a good location for our break , nice staff, comfortable bed , clean , peaceful

LuxembourgStaff consists exclusively of what seems to be foreign exchange students who lack even the most basic training. I.e. at check-in, front desk insisted the room wasn't paid yet and I couldn't show proof because of lacking internet. At check-out the next morning the same person just said everything was paid as if the discussion had never taken place. When I asked for stamps and pointed to my postcards she called her manager bc she didn't understand what I wanted. They weren't rude, just untrained and if you appreciate the distinctive irish hospitality and friendliness, know that you won't find that here at all. Very old furniture of different styles mixed together and an even older bathroom (badly needs maintenance work and you have to be popeye to be able to flush the toilet). Door to balcony was locked and no key was provided. The price is in no way justified. In Luxembourg (the 10th most expensive country in the world and well before Ireland), a room like this would be rented for 70€ max. In Germany this would be considered a "Pension" rather than a hotel. There is a separate menu card for vegetarian options which was only provided upon request. Introvert waitress. Just nodded and walked away when I told her I had booked a table so I followed her, thinking I was going to be seated. Ended up at the end of the restaurant with her and her puzzled colleague. Very awkward situation. Yes, the location is good but for 10€ more, I had a top notch, brand new maisonette with sea view not even an hour drive further south two days bf.
Beware: what you pay for is the location. The accomodation is nowhere near the standards of this price segment.

United KingdomSpa wasn’t really worth the money - just large jacuzzi and sauna / steam room weren’t very much of either. The service could be so much better - they have a lovely relaxing lounge but it would be so much more pleasant if they offered bar service in it rather than guests having to walk all the way up to the first floor to get their own drinks.
