Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOur room had a window overlooking the street so not much privacy through the day when we opened the blind to let in natural light. A TV would have been good. Also, a rooftop terrace was listed in the description but was either non existent or unavailable to use. Whilst we weren't affected, a number of reviewers have mentioned a bad smell. Perhaps this is coming from the light well in the middle of the building as it was littered with decaying pidgeon droppings and probably needs a clean out and netting.
Small room but clean, light and airy. Great shower, hot with strong water pressure. Small desk with kettle, decent size mugs and tea bags. Really appreciated the chocolates, chips and water. Shared kitchen downstairs was large with basic cooking utensils, pots and pans. Stove, oven, microwave, full size fridge with freezer. Also dining table in kitchen. Tiny laundry that was pretty dirty but new washing machine worked well. No dryer. Codes to get in front door and room worked well for us. Good wifi. Great location for exploring Cork and doing day trips. Bus stop to Blarney Castle only a couple of minutes walk away as was the Paddywagon Tour bus to the Ring of Kerry. Overall we had a comfortable stay and thought it good value compared to price of alternative accommodation in Cork.

United KingdomThere was no manual look on the inside of the bedroom door, I would have a bit safer if there was. The shower room could have been cleaner, there were visual drips on the wall near the sink and the skirting was covered in dust. The splash-back on the sink was not fixed to the wall, just leaning. The room was a little dark and the view from the window but a bit depressing. There was no hangers in the wardrobe. There is only one ceiling light with a naked bulb and not very bright, reading lights over the bed would be good. The kitchen could have been a little cleaner and the kitchen bin emptied everyday, it was spilling over the 2 days I was there. A TV would be a good addition. The shower head and rail needs fixing, when I tried to adjust it, it came off in my hands though I was able to put it back.
The location was great, lots of shops, pubs, restaurants nearby and within walking distance of St Patrick’s St and the river. Several bus stops nearby including one bus that takes you to Blarney Castle. There were some nice touches like tea, milk, sugar and biscuits (though weirdly no coffee), spare individually wrapped toothbrushes and a set of shelves in the shower room to put your things. It was good to have a kitchen to store milk and things and make breakfast.

IrelandI had to wait a while after paying before I received my PIN code to enter the building and my room. Communication with the host/manager could have been a bit better. The outside door to the street was a little temperamental and took a few attempts to open. The room door was fine.
The room was very clean and comfortable and in a great location in the city centre. The price was fair. Overall very good.

Irelandthe bed and pillows were uncomfortable, and there were loud noises from outside our window that woke us up every morning at 6am, even with the windows closed. also one day one of the staff entered our room because they thought we were already checking out even though we still had another night. and one night the owner changed the code to enter the apartment without telling us so we were locked outside for a while in the rain

CanadaYou will need to be able to navigate stairs if you are staying here. We were able to find parking on the street outside of the property and were thankful for that!
The location was very convenient to downtown. The suite was clean and the bed comfortable. There was red and white wine and a few treats left for us which we thought was a lovely touch, thank you!

AustriaThe room is quite basic and contains just a bed, a wadrobe and a table with a kettle - a few pictures and a little decoration would not harm.
I liked the uncomplicated transaction and communication. The location is close to downtown and nice coffe spots around (see picture) The value for money is ok.
