Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe website and hotel itself shows several restaurants in the building: Mapas, Dungeon Bar, The Terrace, and PJ's. When we arrived, we found all closed, and the hotel was using the casual PJ's space as the dining area using the Mapas menu. Also, I would not recommend using the room service breakfast option - we were leaving too early to easily get breakfast in the restaurant and had it delivered. We paid $60 for the breakfast, which included a "Continental Breakfast (which is only a basket of toast, , jam, and a packaged yogurt) one 1/2 Irish breakfast. We were disappointed for the cost.
The hotel is located in a lovely area south of Dublin and easy to find. We requested an early check-in, which was quickly and easily accommodated. The hotel grounds are pretty and there are a lot of places to explore and walk around, and the paths to the coast are close by. This was our last hotel stay on a 3wk trip to Ireland and we booked it thinking it would be a luxurious way to cap off the trip. That being said, we did find the hotel to be a little more outdated than expected. The rooms in the pictures look gorgeous, but in reality, they're kind of dull, albeit moderately comfortable. Our room was advertised as a sea view, which it had a slice of. The twin room we booked for our young adult children was across the hall with a view of the lower hotel roof.

United Statestoo far from the little village to easily walk after a long day. Not a complaint really, just my own experience. I got down to the pool from my room and they told me I had to have a bathing cap. Would have been good to know before hand.
Majestic location, a view of the sea from my room balcony. Very comfortable and classy room with a tub and shower, all the accessories you might want. Staff was patient and delightful, ready to help.

IrelandI was sent a link from the hotel and according to the link wine should have been waiting in out room. Disappointingly it wasn't. The food in the restaurant was appalling. We did have a vegetarian option and was given a poorly prepared starter with too much basamic vinegar and the main course was an uneatable chickpea daal serve with no side dishes. It was unbelievebly hard to get the staffs attention. We weren't charged for the restaurant meal. The breakfast in the morning was very good. But be careful if you're gluten intolerent as we ask for gluten free bread and was given normal bread containing gluten.
It's an excellent hotel, the staff are courteous and the facilities are great.

AustraliaLimited places to eat both within the hotel or with a short walk. No problem if you can jump in the car and go to Dalkey
Relatively quiet location close to Killiney Hill and to Dalkey and Killinery Beach (by car). Very comfortable room. The staff were very helpful, allowing us up to our room, even though we were having trouble paying with our credit card.

United KingdomNot much to say in this department…The only problem was we couldn’t stay for longer!
I had been to the hotel many years ago with my family as a child- it has always been a fond memory. My boyfriend and I decided we should visit Killiney for a few days as he had never been to this side of the country. It was beautiful! The location is near the sea and just a 15 minute walk away from the beautiful village of Dalkey. Not only was the location the perfect getaway spot with plenty of surrounding restaurants and bars, but the atmosphere and the staff of the hotel were the most comfortable and welcoming. The food was very enjoyable and the drinks were even better! The staff were consistent in their interests of the guests, the facilities provided were of top tier in terms of accessibility and cleanliness and the rooms were the most comfortable….we were even provided with an electrical fan to help us cool down in the hot weather! Well worth the trip if anyone were to look for a long weekend away to a beautiful location where they can relax, feel valued and retain the experience in memory.
