How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Water for shower is just warm, but not hot enough and not long lasting.
The location is quiet but not far away from the city centre. Room mates are nice and considerable. My bed is comfortable. I am happy to have met a few very good and friendly room mates.

The water in the shower is either cold (bathroom with a yellow sign) or boiling hot (bathroom with a green sign). You cannot have something in the middle ;p
The guys at the reception are super nice, the hostel is clean, you can reach it by public transport (bus).

- Padlocks: As I arrived I noticed I needed a padlock to keep my personal stuff locked. So I asked reception. I was first told they don’t have any and that is common knowledge to always bring a padlock when going to a hostel. Then I was told that they DID have them but they ran out of them already. - The receptionist I spoke to was patronising and borderline rude. - SHOWER CURTAINS: brown at the bottom . Which clearly means they haven’t been washed in ages. - WATER: lukewarm at the best and constantly turns back to cold. - TOP OF BED cover in so much dust. - There are no vending machines. I got a horrible migraine at night and needed some food to take my medication but there was no vending machine.

The bathrooms were not clean and the showers had cold water. You have to wash along with everybody like 5 more showers in the same time to have warm water. The water was barely warm. I felt cold in the shower. No hot water at all in the showers. This is bad. Not coming here again.

The shower stalls didn’t have much space to put your stuff and the shower caddy would flip over and drop everything at times.
The rooms were large with a lot of privacy. The bathrooms were large as well with plenty of stalls and showers. All facilities were super clean and sheets smelled good. Staff was really nice and helpful.

I would not recommend as a solo female, there is a strange vibe at the hostel that may be due to the price of accomodation in Dublin generally. My room had a smell of cigarettes unfortunately. I also dealt with a very unfriendly check in worker who did not help with the unwelcoming feel of the hostel.
The hostel was quiet and had large bathrooms.

I didn’t like how there was no sign to show where the hostel was when looking for it. I couldn’t find it for a little while and there were other people looking for the hostel as well. Also, (and this definitely could have been user error) the shower was scolding hot early in the morning to the point where I couldn’t use it and I couldn’t find the setting to change the temperature.
I absolutely loved the bed, it was great! I also loved all the pride flags throughout the hostel, it made me feel very welcome. The bathrooms were really clean and all the rooms were great sizes. I honestly wish I had another night to stay especially because of the comfort of the bed. I love how the curtain went all the way across.
