Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilI stayed three days and had no power in my bed (lamp and socket). By the way, the upper bed is terrible because it has no ventilation. It is surrounded by wood (like a box).
Great staff team and location.

RomaniaThis place is taking advantage of the housing crisis in Dublin. Had there not been such a thing, nobody would pay 60 euros a night for such a place. It's quite dirty overall, the layout of the building is tiring i.e. long, very long flights of stairs. Don't pay attention to reviews saying it's "clean". It ain't. And besides everything, important amenities are missing from the room, such as furniture like tables and chairs. The only good thing about it is the location. That's it.
The location. The location. The location.

RussiaRooms were hardly cleaned at all during the whole week. 74 euros pern night in a shared room and even the towel wasn't provided. There is no single coat hook or shelv in the room. Toilet rooms were quite filthy and sometimes without toilet paper. Air dryer is out of service. Sometimes there's only cold water in shower. All the water in the shower can be turned off in the middle of washing, good luck toweling off the soap. You will be happy when you are Leevin this place.
Bed was soft and comfy. The building is nice and full of untapped potential. Location is rather good and walkable.

FinlandThe mattress was full of lint and you could feel it while laying on it. Switching beds wouldn’t help as it was same thing in every bed. There was no mattress pads/covers so you could see mattress full of stains and lint under the sheet. No place to fill water bottle. Doors every 3 meters.

New ZealandTo this day 10 days after checkout they are still withholding a tax receipt from me. They are legally required to issue a tax invoice, if requested, on checkout. I asked for one and they told me they wouldn't issue one for 10-15 days, even though booking.com emailed them to remind them they are legally required to issue one ON CHECKOUT. A tax receipt is an extremely basic request and its not good enough to withhold it and fail to comply with legal obligations. the lock boxes in the room also dont lock, i raised this one day 1 and they said theyd fix it and i raised it every day for the next 5 days and then i gave up. Also the toilet close to my room was broken the whole time so I needed to walk through 3 corridors and down stairs just to use a bathroom. Also their kitchen does not have stovetops, pots pans etc.

SwitzerlandThe owner needs to invest a bit more. Not only to reap the benefits. Lots of things are simply missing. Just send those owners in their own rooms to learn first hand what is really needed to be over there. Some guest from particular countries need to be taught not to yell (that’s how they speak) at each other. There’re other people around.
The location. The kitchen and the dining room are good for the place.

United KingdomI was in a shared room with another 5 people which i was aware of but my bunk was at the very top (3 high). It seemed like it was made from MDF and was only added to maximize the amount of people in the room. It was very difficult to climb into and to exit. I thought it was like a coffin. There was also no hot water taps in the sinks and most toilets were out of order and the only one left had no toilet roll.
The staff were lovely, the mattress was comfortable and the room was clean. It was the cheapest option for a lone traveler.

CanadaHaving 3 rooms stacking on each other is horrendous. The top one could be very difficult for people with leg/ankle problems to get on because the stair steps are small. Also the toilets aren't clean :(
The location is good, very close to a tram station and basically a 15-min walk to all the activities in downtown Dublin.

IrelandReception staff was not the friendliest I've encountered. Working in the industry myself, I expected a welcoming smile at least but instead I was greeted by a frowning face and little to no conversation besides the basics of telling me where my room was and check out time. There was a group of people checking in before me and they were treated the same way. Same thing at check out, simply collected my keys and said "that's all".
It is very comfortable for a hostel, I booked a room with a private bathroom and it was fairly big, beds are comfortable enough and have a private locker and light. The café downstairs was a plus for breakfast in case you don't want to go outside and the gentleman working there is super nice and friendly, probably the nicest staff member I met there.

BulgariaNice and friendly staff, clean rooms altho worn off but it's to be expected it's a hostel. Good price for what you get. I'm giving 9 instead of 10 for one reason only - too many stairs. Building is old but damn, one will have an asthma attack if he's placed on the 2nd or the 3rd floor. If in need, i will book again. Thank you.

IrelandI was locked out of the hostel around 2:30 am after it claimed to be open 24/7. They claimed that I wasn't on camera and refused to offer me a refund. If you're looking for a place to have a night out, I would avoid this hostel at all cost.
