How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Shower in a bath for a suite (even though junior). I’d have hoped for a separate shower. The shower in the bath was just ok.
Great location and the junior suite was a good size. Bed was great as was the breakfast. Friendly staff and car park on site although small and very busy. Great views of the river.

Service in the bar a little slow, Breakfast variety could be a bit wider, EG maybe some hash browns or more veggie options.
Staff very helpful and friendly, bar is very good however service a little slow at certain times. Rooms spacious and rooms very comfortable. Breakfast buffet is good

The room was very hot during the day and the thermostat (I think) had no markings on it and we had no window to open so make me a bit sick. Check in is very late usual check ins are 2pm. I think 4pm is very late. Not enough choice with breakfast of rolls, croissant etc. Extra toasters are needed as there is a queue only there.

Breakfast was a little disappointing with the scrambled eggs being a little runny texture but overall we had a pleasent stay and will most certainly be back.
Great location, staff super friendly and attentive. Michael was amazing server for our dinner and we can’t thank him enough along with everyone else. Dinner was amazing and full of flavor we ate there twice.

Great location as it was very close to the centre of Athlone. Our room was magnificent as it overlooked the river. Fortunate also that we found a park in front of the hotel.

Staff. At check in o was told there was told my booking was wrong and they couldn't do anything about it. Eventually I looked at the computer myself to sort it out

Would have liked a bit more tourist information as we came from Australia. Maybe some staff suggestions. Loved this place though.

Room too warm and window wouldn’t open. Handle broken. Carpet looked old. Bed extremely comfortable. Ground floor a bit disconnected- nothing smooth about it. Maybe it’s just ‘modern’!! Staff in all locations were lovely. Food very good. Hotel needs a good paint outside. Looks old.

Stayed in a standard room facing the front of property. Noisy outside during night to early morning with people talking loudly at different times just under our window. Room although comfortable and clean could do with updating, carpet was stained. Service was poor at times In restaurant at breakfast.
Great location not far from train station and a short walk to centre of town. Food is top class, bar and restaurant overlooking the Marina which provides a lovely picturesque tranquil setting. Rooms are a good size and very comfortable.

Room 134 noise from some machine running during the night. Not bad but could be done without.

Bed mattress was uncomfortable Breakfast had adequate choice but not to a very good standard. Therefore overall price of stay seemed overpriced compared to similar stays we have had elsewhere in the price bracket

We dined in the Terrace restaurant (I think that's what it was called, looked like the roof could be rolled back). It was a free for all regarding getting a table but we did. Meal was OK. Annoying part was that we paid for drinks that were enjoyed by the people that had been sitting at the next table. We didn't see it until after we had paid.

We got an early check in which was great however the cleaner knocked on the door at 11.00am and then came into the room, even though the “do not disturb “ sign was on the door. Our check out was 12.00

There were a few stains on the bedroom carpet and no shower gel in the dispenser.
The central location is perfect for me as I like to walk a lot and everything I required was within easy distance. Value for money was particularly important and booking well in advance was seamless.
