How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We truly have nothing but positive memories.
Lynn, John, Tara and staff were wonderful. Very helpful and always willing to share their knowledge of local attractions and directions. The food and drinks were excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We were welcomed and made to feel at home.

Family run hotel - we got such a warm welcome from Lynn and her 2 daughters. The hotel is spotlessly clean as was the room. Very comfy beds and great shower. The breakfast menu included every style of breakfast any guest would like and we were served by a polite and friendly young lady. The info book in the room had all the local and further afield places of interest along the Wild Atlantic Way. Lyn also kindly offered her own recommendations and insights into the area. Brilliant stay - I would highly recommend staying at the Rathbaun Hotel.

The hotel, restaurant, and staff are all exceptional. Everyone was overly kind and helpful to us as we had some sickness in our little group. The care and attention shown us was truly over the top. In addition, the lamb stew was wonderful!

Not a thing
Home feeling with all the accessories for comfort. Food delicious and reasonable priced. We loved the resident cat “Shady”

I had to go home.
I liked the way you were looked after the moment you arrived. Such a lovely family. I had read reviews before I booked and that's why I stayed. Food was so good try the jam 👌 helped with where to head to on each morning. Would stay again and will book again.

Exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff. Great central location and very accessible for local tourist spots such as Doolin, Cliffs of Moher etc. Highly recommend.

it was welcoming, traditional, warm, friendly right in the middle nod the town.
it was a traditional Irish hotel very few of them left. we were made so welcome and so was our dog. the food was fabulous.

Couldn't say there was anything we didn't like
Excellent breakfast. Good choice. Very tasty. Rooms and bathroom were spotless. Simple but comfortable. The staff were so lovely. Lynn welcomed us and advised us where to eat that evening, and what to do in the area during our stay. John saw us off on Sunday morning with some recommendations on where we could stop off on the route home.

The couple Lynn and John were probably the most helpful and informative hosts,we've ever encountered. From the minute we arrived they helped us get settled and gave us information about places to eat,recommended different day trips. Provided us with maps and details of different scenic drives and places to visit. The breakfast was cooked to order beautiful homecooked scones and jams. We will visit again.

This was our second time to stay here and we weren’t disappointed. The owners and the staff just make you feel so at home. The hotel is spotless and very comfortable. And the breakfast is one of the nicest you will get in any hotel in Ireland.

The shower was slightly small but totally fine :)
The staff here are incredible -- they make you feel like you're being taken care of by a family member. I was dealing with a small injury from before my trip and Lynn (before I could even ask for help!) set me up with a soaking tub so that I could treat the issue. Lynn and her lovely husband and daughter took great care of us, and we will definitely be back!!

Everything, the room, the beds, the welcome and assistance in securely parking our motorcycles and drying our wet gear. Breakfast was extra but was well worth it from a comprehensive breakfast menu. The Hotel was centrally located and our 1 night was excellent value for money

No atmosphere in the hotel or village - would not recommend staying in the area. Village needs reviving.
Location - close to attractions Weather. Pleasant staff. Clean and tidy room. The room was cleaned after the first night.
