How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

This was a great place to stay in Killarney, especially if you are driving as parking is included. The rooms were stylish and beautifully designed, as well as very comfortable and clean. The location is an easy walk to the city center and the national park is close by. This is a boutique hotel with limited rooms and is very inviting as a result. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer at this hotel.

Super clean rooms and convenient location. The staff always answered the phone when there was no one at reception, they also dropped up an iron to us when we needed it and kept our bags for us after we checked out until our flight. Will be back.

Note that the front desk is not always manned, as the receptionist also does other chores; so you should inform her of your estimated arrival time. Room cleaning is not provided unless you ask. These comments are meant to be informative and not negative opinion.
Big room, beds, and bathroom. Good croissants and other baked goods, coffee/tea, and fruits provided free of charge in the morning. Facility is newer and very clean, and the one-person staff is nice. Short walk to downtown area.

Very nice room large in a newer hotel. Dining and entertainment were all within walking distance. Great reasonable find in Killarney.

The shower was awesome, huge, and there was plenty of pressure and hot water. The location was a short walk to the main street and close to some good shopping and restaurants.

I think the booking.com hotel rating is overrated There is no elevator that could be a problem if you are in the upper floor - like I was. There is not a kettle or things to prepare something to drink in the rooms (there is a open space downstairs where you can prepare but means needs to dress-up and walk down to prepare a tea in the morning or night No place to hang the towels, no place to put the soap-shampoo in the shower (on the floor), not even tissues in the room
Great location- walking distance from city center and short drive from many Killarney attractions Big rooms and beds. Everything looks new Nice breakfast although is basic and that is the reason they are not charging for it but is good enough to start your day

Maybe leave shampoo in case someone would need it when traveling.
It was well kept-neat and very clean. Lovely amenities and very close to town. I would highly recommend The Birches 🤗 Just lovely!

I really liked everything, through my own fault didn't realise it wasn't a hotel. But still recommend the birches.
A lovely place to stay, friendly staff, spotless room and bathroom. Facilities for light breakfast really nice. Great coffee.

The hotel is not air conditioned but fans were available.
Our rooms were ready when we arrived. We were traveling with 2 other couples and our rooms were all located together. Rooms were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast items in the morning were just right. Excellent location and value.

The Birches was a newly renovated building which was done to an excellent standard. Everything was new and modern and clean. The continental breakfast was better than average, It included bagels, rolls, cereal, yogourt and fruit. The location was terrific... within walking distance of the train station and a 5 minute walk to town and the National Forest. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Just a 5 minute walk from central Killarney, this hotel is modern, cosy and comfortable. The room was very big and had everything we needed. The bathroom was also big with good shower pressure. We didn't have any breakfast as we had other plans but that was also on offer.
