Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe garden and all the communal spaces were very comfortable and relaxing. Everything was very clean, staff couldn't do enough for you. The hostel is very central and has bikes for hire too. Loved the vegetable garden out the back and the chickens and beehive. I'd definitely recommend and definitely be back.

AustraliaNitpicking here because of the 9 rating. Must be an old building because there was loud floorboard creaking from the dorm above whenever anyone made a move. The shower room was tiny and had no hooks!
One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. Lovely staff, great atmosphere, amazing value for money and bonus dogs!

IrelandThere was not much of a railing on the side of the bed ..I found it very hard trying to get on the top bunk. You have to strip your own bed and take the linen down to reception...we've never been asked to do that before
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was clean. Very comfortable beds and soft bed linen. I would highly recommend it, it's one of the best hostels I've stayed at

The location was great and the breakfast was reasonable. The soda bread wasn't so nice though.

this hostel is super cute and cosy but what really makes it is the staff. I had an incident and injured myself and Maya was amazing, she made me some food and helped with organising transport to an A&E in the next town when I couldn’t, and made sure I was as comfortable as I could be the whole time. Anna was also fab and brushed/plaited my hair for me as I couldn’t use my arms. 11/10 hostel 😊

Austriait's a lovely place with arty walls and details. breakfast was included, too and there are 2 rooms to hang out and a kitchen to cook. in the dorms you have curtains which are light dimming and give you privacy and space. The garden is awesome, there are some chickens and it feels like they really care about living on this planet, environment, waste and how we live together. I rented a bike, there is good coffee and cake. You can spend some days there for sure!

The hostel simply feels like home. During my Ireland trip I stayed at two other hostels as well: both super clean and very modern, but much bigger and most of all: much less homely, cosy and comfortable. At the Black Sheep Hostel, all faces feel familiar after having spent just one night there. I had some bad luck during my trip and wasn’t feeling very talkative when I arrived in Killarney, but had some very much appreciated conversations nonetheless - one of them in the beautiful garden! People seemed to spend much less time on their phone in this hostel compared to the other ones I’ve stayed in. The cute dogs may have played their part, but it’s the general feeling of the hostel and the kindness of the staff that really work magic.

AustraliaThe only annoying thing was the push button showers which are annoying if you’re trying to wash long hair. Everything else was above expectations for a hostel.
We loved our stay. The hostel is unique and very conscious of their environmental footprint. It’s great to see accommodation options like this. It felt like you were staying in a big family house. The rooms were a good size with spacious lockers. The kitchen and shared spaces were generous and there was plenty of room for everyone. As well as a great garden and seating out the front. You are very close to all the bars and national park.

United KingdomRoom (Cuba) was fine but a bit exposed to view from the kitchen and would have benefitted from a screen or net curtains. The attached disabled bathroom was a bit cold and spartan but functioned OK
Friendly people. Good facilities for self catering. Free parking nearby. Close to the town centre but in a quiet road. Breakfast included and good quality. Soda bread really good.
