How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Maybe more kitchenware.
A lovely little hostel well situated in the beautiful town of Dingle. The host is really kind and helpfull and the hostel is perfect for your holiday. Bedrooms and common areas are clean and pleasant.

We were charged an additional security deposit which we weren't made aware of in advance. Also 3 of us were charged extra to use towels.
Good location, beds clean and comfy. Easy check in and out.

It could use a new carpet on the stairs and the lack of parking is a bit of a pain.
The property was nice and clean.

It's not exactly cheap but nowhere in Ireland is.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, it's a good place to meet other travellers. It feels like you're staying in a friend's house while you're there. It was very quiet at the time of year I was there, the location is down a quiet side street just off the main street.

Nothing to complain about or mention here. Staff were lovely and the facilities were great.
The welcoming upon arrival felt warm and friendly, immediately we knew that this was a good space. The vibe of the building was great. Most notably it wasn't loud and full of people shouting or things like that which settled us in nicely. The room was cosy and comfortable with 8 beds in the shared dorm. Nice to have toilet, sink and shower in the room for us to use. The complimentary breakfast was a nice addition, consisting of toast with spreads as well as a selection of cereals. Having access to lockers in the rooms at no extra fee was also really comforting as I know other hostels will charge for that kind of service. A chalkboard in the lobby had suggestions on where to eat and drink nearby which gave a good sense of what is on offer nearby for those of us traveling in for a short stay.

Unfortunately the accommodation was not up to our expectations when looking at the price. We knew we had booked a hostel and therefore the room would be simple but the bed was simply terrible and most of all the noise was a real disturbance, whether the noise was coming from outside or from inside the accommodation. We even thought at one point that people were in our room as we could hear them so clearly! The room was not very clean, and when we arrived our shower was not working. Although as soon as we told the lady at reception she contacted the owner who arrived in short notice to fix it up.

Staff was great. Breakfast was put on early for all the runners waking up for Dingle Marathon in the morning, a very thoughtful touch. Everything was comfortable, clean, quiet.

The staff member who checked me in was not very welcoming, the hostel does not have a comfortable welcoming atmosphere at all. The beds are not comfortable, the shower didn’t work. Feels like the kind of place that should cost €10 a night.
