Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFantastic little gem! Super friendly staff, very clean, everything you need, nice clean pool, amazing view, delicious food. We had a fantastic time there and would recommend this place very highly. Manoj the manager was so helpful and organised a driver for us one day (much cheaper than other local companies) and took us around the other. Took us to some amazing places. Excellent location as not far from a lot of the beautiful places to see in the area. It is truly a little heaven!

GermanyOur room had a good size. The bathroom was clean. Balcony is super nice, perfect for reading a book and relaxing. Staff is very friendly and helpful. No issues with the food. They provide purified water which is a big plus, as well as dinner on request. Nothing negative, just one remark: It is not really a walking area, better to move around with a driver :)

We had a really nice stay at the Chithirapuram Palace Hotel. The hotel is very clean and calm with beautiful views of the hills and tea gardens. The manager Mr Manoj and his staff were welcoming and went that extra mile to b3 helpful. For example organising one of our days trekking with a very good guide (Mr Selva) and even driving us to the starting point. The hotel has its own kitchen and we enjoyed both the freshly prepared breakfasts, dinners and lots of Masala Tea. The swimming pool on the adjoining terrace was a welcome bonus.

United KingdomThere was absolutely nothing to dislike.
The room was beautiful with stunning views from the balcony. The room was spotless with a large shower and the bed was very comfortable. Food was delicious and cooked to order. The pool area was lovely, very clean and with views of the tea plantations. The staff team were very friendly and helpful, allowing us to continue use the pool after checkout and arranging transfers for us. We would definitely stay here again if visiting Munnar.

IsraelThe description did not match the actual property in one important regard for us (and this may not be relevant for must visitors: We self cater, and the description included a kitchen for the room, with stovetop, utensils, etc. None of that exists, and using the hotel’s kitchen was complicated and not entirely feasible. There are other features of the facility that are advertised but not provided, like a safe deposit box and tumble dryer.
Very attractive and comfortable. Munoj was very helpful to us in arranging activities and transportation.

NetherlandsSad that we had to leave
A memorable and very beautiful place. From the initial communication to the good bye, it felt pleasantly personal and warmly welcoming. Manoj is a fantastic person. Very patient and full of good advice about everything you need and can help you with the arrangements. He answers quickly and is always present. The hotel and the garden are a beautifully calm location. From our room and balcony we could enjoy the sunrise over the mountain and tea plantage. The mornings felt magic with various birds singing in the trees in bloom. The personnel are very attentive. The hotel has its own restaurant with very good lunches and dinners. It feels like one of those places, where you want to return - the moment you leave.

EcuadorThe place is a little far from munnar city if you have your own vehicle or rented it's good for roaming around. But manoj will help you if you need a car or auto if needed
Great place to spend time. A little far from munnar main city but worth staying. A small tea garden is near to this place for the photos. Manoj and Selvaraj both took care of us and were very humble people. Dinner was served hot and tasty and breakfast was perfect.

FranceEvery thing went really well. Small, calm, clean, charming hotel with beautiful views of the mountain and tea gardens in the distance. A beautifully kept garden with so many plants. Nice private balconies Manoj will take you for an amazing walk in the tree estates without taking the car. His brother can take you places in his 7 seaters car, very convenient, if you need a driver. Nice family always willing to help. Good dinner without having to go out again at night. Nice modern features in the room and bathroom, chosen with taste Highly recommended without hesitation.

United KingdomEverything was great
This is a hidden gem - don't hesitate to book. The location is 20 minutes from Munnar but I would recommend basing yourself here and travelling to Munnar for any hikes (there are not many attractions in Munnar apart from a point to start your hike). They arranged a car to collect us from Madarais and Manoj (the hotel manager who is delightful) can arrange hikes etc. We walked out with him one evening for sunset also. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Our favourite place on a 1 month trip (and we have been moving every 2 nights) We stayed in the front room with a balcony which was lovely to sit out on and the pool is an added bonus.

Small, clean, tranquil and charming boutique hotel located on the mountain slope. There is a picturesque view from the pool over the mountains and lushy tea plantations. Very good and tasty restaurant. Last but not least....the guy working in the reception is extremely helpful, nice and pro active. Already prior the trip, he booked us great hike in the mountains, as well the transfers. Everything at very affordable price. There are lots of activities to do in surrounding area - two-night stay was far away too short. Thanks a lot for very enjoyable stay!

Chithirapuram Palace is a lovely homestay just 15 min drive to the south of Munnar. The host and staff cannot do enough for you and keep the grounds immaculate. The room was clean and descent shower with hot water. We were fortunate to have a balcony room overlooking the front with gorgeous views. Having the pool is an added bonus

United KingdomFrom the moment we landed in Kochi we felt welcomed as we were picked up by a prearranged transfer. Upon arrival at the beautiful hotel in Munnar we were met with smiles and our bags taken to our room. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a balcony space attached to our room, there was also a pool which we enjoyed each morning. Breakfast each day was good, we either had an omelette or a local Indian cuisine, it was always tasty. We loved exploring Munnar! Manoj (the hotel manager) was extremely helpful and friendly. He would organise and suggest things for us to do each day, even going as far as driving us there himself. The hotel has a restaurant with a full time chef. All our meals were excellent. I would highly recommend staying at here.

United KingdomStaff ring your room a lot to ask if you want meals which was disturbing when we were feeling unwell. Property is a way from Munnar (around 15min tuk-tuk ride) but all the prettier for it.
Beautiful room, good bathroom, fabulous views. Property was clean as a whistle and bed was mist comfortable we’ve had in India. Both myself and my husband were recovering from a bout of food poisoning (whilst staying somewhere else) and this was the perfect place to recuperate. We didn’t eat too much due to our situation but what we did have was good and presented very well. Didn’t use the pool for the same reason but it looked really lovely and would have lived to be in there looking at that view….wow!

United StatesThe front desk and staff were very attentive, even to a fault. They constantly asked me to take tours and were knocking on my room door at 9am trying to get me to buy breakfast. I will go to the restaurant if I want food, you don't have to come knock on the door or yell at me while Im reading on the terrace to sell food. If you said no they seemed offended, ask why you didn't want to eat, and tried to sell juice. At least two mornings they came to sell breakfast twice, after we declined the first time. This is the first time in over 40 years I've had to explain my eating habits to a hotel manager. And not once in 5 nights did they offer to freshen up the room or empty the trash bin by the toilet. The guest care priorities seemed a little off and awkward.
The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was modern. The room was gorgeous. Good enough wifi, and the hot water worked most of the time. The pool was clean and well taken care of. The property was well taken care of and much quieter than Munnar
