A slice of Malabar hospitality that Kozhikode is known for, much thanks to Arjun Bhaiya and Mr. Sherbas for the safe and comfortable stay at Design Ashram. It was such a warm, cozy space to come to after my travels and explorations of the town.

It’s in an appropriate location to explore beach and shops over there. The hostel design is a traditional Kozhikode style I believe.

A fine hostel in a beautiful location for solo travellers in Kozhikode

Booking was more expensive than the third night I booked. shower can be not warm enough...

This hostel is close to the beach and all the good foods spot you will enjoy. Really welcoming staff. The place have a really nice architectur and the street nearby are selfie spot granted The cafe next door is a amazing place not too miss.

I felt really good in design ashram, I spent 2 weeks here and I would go back for real, the manager it’s really great person, but also the guy that cleans and managed the place was really lovely person, I practiced 2 week of kickboxing and mma in the gym just near the corner outside ashram, and I ate really good around ashram, the area it’s a old and traditional area, I recommend it!

It's in front of the Beach and near the Railway Station. The Staff is very kind and helpful. It has spaces for working and a little kitchen that can be used by guests. They provide purified drinking water that can be refilled in the kitchen. Dormitory with AC and fans. The beautiful House Ashram has been restored by a group of Architects and it has modern facilities in a stylish old building. They respected the original materials, the environment, it's beautiful old plants, ceilings and floors. It's an oasis of peace in a very busy Town.

I found it a little pricey considering it is a 12 man dorm.

This is a very unique hostel as it is located within a cool building run by architects. During my stay they had an art exhibition on also. The host / manager was very helpful. The dorm was comfy and clean!

There is so much to like about Design Ashram. The folksy ambience, location by the beach, wonderful company, beautiful violin music (if you're lucky), cozy coworking space and piping hot morning tea!

The best thing about ashram are people. People who work there, manage it and most importantly the ones who travel to design ashram. I got to meet a lot of wonderful people. The place in itself is an art. Evening vibes in the Gujarati street is an experience.

The property felt was very community focused and it had a really friendly atmosphere. The courtyard is beautiful and you feel away from the city! It would be easy to have a relaxing, work trip here, but as a solo traveller I was also easily able to make friends and have a fun night. The staff were lovely and helpful.
