We had a ground floor room which didn’t have a view of the river, plus the windows opened straight onto an alley so we weren’t able to open curtains/shutters. There were also a few bugs in the bathroom. Breakfast was okay but in the atrium in the ground floor - it would be nice if it was on the rooftop with some shade.

Location was perfect - straight onto the ghats and being able to walk along the river was wonderful. Rooftop had a great view (but no coverings which meant we didn’t spend much time up there in 40 degrees)

Good view of the river Ganges from the room balcony( higher floor Room 5 ) and from the roof top. Kashi Viswanath temple and other popular ghats are nearby. Guest house staff are helpful to the guests.

One night, I found myself locked out and had to knock on the main door for quite some time before the staff finally let me in. Upon checkout, I had pre-booked a taxi through the hotel, expecting a smooth departure. However, to my disappointment, they made me walk nearly 30 minutes to the taxi pickup point instead of arranging a more convenient option. Given that I paid ₹1500 for the taxi, this was completely unacceptable. A simple auto-rickshaw transfer to the taxi location would have made a huge difference, but the staff showed no initiative to provide basic convenience.

The hotel boasts a fantastic location, right on the banks of the Ganges, offering stunning views and a serene atmosphere. The staff is warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist, adding to the overall pleasant experience.

The location is very good but taxis dont get near. You have to walk 10 minutes with your luggage. But the staff helps with the lugage. Massages are very good.

Bathroom was small. Not many options for breakfast. I was hoping for a sumptuous Banarasi breakfast! Bread and paratha for vegetarians like us.

Hotel is on Mansarovar ghat with some rooms having a view of the Ganga. Easy access to multiple ghats. Area is clean and well maintained relative to the general area. Stay was better than expected, room we had was of a good size, washrooms are clean, staff are friendly, on site cook prepares good vegetarian food/ eggs. Breakfast is provided. Location of the hotel requires a short walk through the alleys from the main road, no vehicle access. Hotel provides assistance with luggage. Rooftop balcony is a bonus.

The staff at Shiva Ganges View are genuinely welcoming, friendly and helpful. I felt absolutely at home and looked after at all times. The guest house is ideally located on a ghat and to visit all the key locations. It is close to cafes that offer a variety of western and local foods as well local street foods and other stores.

Area of improvement- I am not sure if there are toothbrush, toothpaste and comb placed in other rooms but our room did not have those. Though there were body wash and shampoo it would be nice to place those items as well. Some guests can forget to get those toiletries and in a new place it’s not easy to find them.

Food is awesome!!!! Freshly made on order, homely and delicious. Staff were very polite and helpful. Uncle Tandon Jee is resourceful and will make sure that you have information to services available at the guest house as well as around. By the river Ganga- cannot ask for more better experience. Excellent Room with all the facilities like Heater, AC et al. the decor is modern yet retains the classic old world charm of Benaras. The staff is attentive and prompt and takes really good care. The rooms in the upper floors provide a majestic view of the Ganges and the roof top is to die for. Highly recommended.

Located at Old Town, so if you want clean roads to walk around the hotel or to reach hotel, this place is not for you. Also, please validate any tour guide suggestions you receive from the hotel. We received a tour guide suggestion from the hotel. Hotel owner strongly suggested us of him and we decided to use the guide. His name is Gagan. He turns out really poor and didn't provide all the services promised. Very very bad experience on guide part 😕

Check in is a bit lengthy and the staff do push for an upsell on tours/yoga/massages as soon as you arrive, which is useful to know, but also a little overwhelming on first arrival.

Property is in a great location within the old city, right next to the Ganges and much quieter than other parts of the city. Airport transfer is well priced and recommended - getting to the hotel from the main road can be a little tricky, with winding narrow roads. Hotel itself is very clean, well furnished and facilities were perfect for a 2 night stay. We only ate breakfast, but really enjoyed the food provided, a mix of local and western options. Staff are warm, welcoming and give you a lot of options to fulfil all you want to get out of your stay in Varnassi. We recommend the sunrise boat tour and tour of the old town.
