Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We're not lying when we say Hammock hostel is the best hostel in India. The effort the owner Priya and her staff went to to ensure we felt welcomed and that we had the best Mumbai experience was unmatched. Legit food tour of the delights of Bandra. Complementary breakfast and evening chai was delish Location - 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Comfort 5/5 - good mattress with curtains for each bed to ensure privacy Chill vibes 💯/💯 Don't delay, if you're in the market for Mumbai accommodation, stay at hammock Hostels today!!!

AustraliaAt first I thought the location was located a bit too far north as its an hour journey to see sites in the south. However after seeing the gateway of india and other sites I should not have bothered leaving the hostel.
In a city full of average accomodation finally there is a hostel that understands the needs of backpackers. Tonnes of spaces to relax and meet people. events coordinated to try the street food and the surrounds. Nice comfy beds with curtains/lockers and airconditioning.

GermanyA bit of a distance to the next train station in case you don't like walking or have a big backpack maybe. But autos/tuk tuk are just a few steps away, using their meter. And the price for a night seems maybe a bit high, especially if you are used to other hostel prices in India. But please don't blame the hostel, those are the crazy accomodation costs in mumbai! So don't be shocked, it is a good price. So no issues, just sad I had to leave that place :/ Phir milenge, hope I can come back one day!
Fell in love with the hostel and the people there, maybe as soon as I stepped through that door. Mixed crowd of (foreign) tourists and (local)people who work remote- very good vibe. Also the staff is very polite and helpful, especially the owner of the hostel, Priyanka is such a lovely and hardworking woman. She sets high standards for her place and tries to give all the guests a nice experience. I was even allowed to leave my big backpack there, when I was away for one night, not an issue. Very comfortable beds with curtains, AC is working well. Nice common area and they are even handing out mosquito repellent cream if needed. The small kitchen and the little breakfast in the morning is a very nice add on, which a traveller values a lot. Amazing laundry service for a fair price. Area is nice for night walks. Got a lot of good memories from that place, a very special one was that spontanous cake cutting with the other guests :)

Had the best stay at Hammock Hostels, kept extending my stay for almost a week. It was very spacious, clean and well organised. The staff are amazing and the host Priya really goes above and beyond to ensure you feel at home, always ready for a chat and to provide assistance. We went out on a street food walking tour which was delicious and a good way to meet other guests. Location was very safe and close to everything you needed. Thank you for making my trip to India so memorable, I can't wait to come back soon!

IndiaI recently had the pleasure of staying at Hammock Hostels and I can't say enough about the incredible staff and the owner, Priy. From the moment I arrived, the staff's warmth and attentiveness made me feel right at home. Priy herself was a delight, always available to ensure every guest felt welcomed and connected. She even organized walks and restaurant hopping tours for guests, adding a unique and personal touch to the stay. The hostel's cleanliness and vibrant ambiance, combined with the team's dedication, created a truly memorable experience. I highly recommend Hammock Hostels for anyone looking for a friendly and comfortable stay in Mumbai.

This hostel felt more like a home than a hostel. I ended up staying for a week (I just extended every day) because of the good vibes there. Everyday 5 o clock there is tea time for all and also everybody was kind and eager to talk. This is the perfect place to stay especially if you want to be in Mumbai for a longer time - here you will make connections and friends who are also staying longer than only few nights. The rooms are clean and the staff is just super friendly and helpful. I will 100% sure be back when I visit Mumbai. Such a home<3

Indiaamazing place, amazing vibe, amazing location (Almost next Carter road social) Friendly staff but the best I like was the sleeping accommodations. Very comfy mattress and cover up with very silent sleepin quarters. It was super relaxing. After hostel hopping (rejected 2 hostels) I landed up at Hammocks after reading reviews online. I was at my nerves end n had decided if this doesn't meets up to my expectations am checking in a hotel. But the staff was there super cool and alleviated my apprehensions straight away. They have an amazing open space where one can just lounge, stretch legs or connect with fellow travelers. Especially cosy for late night spiritual discussions with fellow travelers ❤ It's neat and clean and very hygienic. I will definitely recommend it to all. Now they have private rooms too, That is like icing on cake.

I've stayed at a lot of hostels in my life and this new hostel in Mumbai is great. It's close to the popular Bandra West area, within walking distance to the sea where we witnessed the beautiful sunsets of Mumbai. It's also close to local communities where you can experience what life is like in the neighborhood, like food, shopping, religion (small stupa across the street). The dorm beds had curtains, AC and wall stands for phones, which is always appreciated. The ambiance is fun and peaceful, with music playing and people coming in and going, and don't miss out on the afternoon chai tea. There's also an amazing breakfast, with an open space upstairs where you can enjoy your meal looking out on the town as people move about their day. The owner was amazing, she connected people and created a really friendly environment. I enjoyed everything about this hostel!

IndiaI’d rather put this a suggestion - maybe a couple of easy to make breakfast options can be provided at a charge.
Extremely clean, tightly snug bedsheets, a shoe rack outside the dorms greatly helpful in reducing clutter on the phone or outside the door. People managing the property are very warm and friendly and will make you feel so comfortable that you’d be left with wanting to come back to this place again. I have stayed in many hostels across India but I’ve come to be particularly fond of this’ vibe.
