Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumBefore anything else, we must say that we did not stay at the Jwala Niketan hotel in the end. We had 6 nights booked there, but when we arrived we were showed to rooms that were not at all like the ones we had booked. They said it was because the hotel changed of manager 2 weeks before. That doesn't explain anything imo, but anyways. Instead of the bedrooms you can see on the pictures (at the time we booked that was only the picture of one big, very neat and clean bedroom with fan and window), they gave us a bedroom in the basement along with storage rooms, which was super humid and moist. Then since we did not accept it, they showed us other rooms, still far from the neat bedrooms they showed on the pictures, but well, it was 21pm. But then they told us that since this was already booked for the day after, we should move from one room to another every day! We said it was not ok and not what we had booked. The guy then told us we could stay at the hotel next door, which was not very clean nor confortable, but at least the rooms had windows, mosquito nets and fans (which are essential with such high temperatures and humidity in the bedroom due to the bathroom and lack of ventilation). I don't know how was the managing of the hotel before they changed manager and I can't say how it will be once the new ones have settled (even though the person we met said he'd already been working there for long), but from our experience and the fact that they try to sell you any crappy room for the price of what was sold like a neat and decent bedroom, I would not recommend the place.

United KingdomThe property owner was very helpful to book us train tickets and to help us with our daily plans in Jaipur.
The rooms are simple but very clean and it was very good for us to stay at Jwala Niketan in Jaipur.

AustraliaIt was clear to me that the receptionist wanted to keep those of European Caucasian appearance at Jwala Niketan and shunt others elsewhere. While we were at the reception he checked in the Europeans into Jwala Niketan but not us. This is extremely inappropriate.
We were put up at the adjoining property called Karni Niwas. NOT at Jwala Niketan as per our booking. This I found to be unacceptable and when I raised the question, the receptionist was not prepared to listen.

AustraliaThe rooms are super basic. Toiet seat not secure and had to fill cistern with water to flush. The bathroom needs a good clean or renovation. The location was a little removed from the centre and difficult to find at night. Our other friend had a room that the bathroom hadn't been cleaned and, although bought to their attention, was not cleaned.
Banan was very helpful and friendly. He organised dinner for us on arrival. We were very hungry and grateful. Banan is charamasatic and accommodating. He makes the place. Beds comfortable and sheets clean. We had three in one room and the cost was the same if we had separate rooms.

United KingdomSome areas need refurbishment. Stains in bath and leaking water. Couldn’t get hot water from shower.
Good location, quiet street but close to restaurants and metro. Price was okay for expensive Jaipur.

United KingdomThe bathroom really needs an upgrade, the stop tap for the toilet cistern needed opening and closing every time otherwise water dripped out of the cistern. The property had a bucket underneath to catch the drips and the stoptap turned off on our arrival. The sink only has a hose for waste water so this pours on your feet off your not careful, cockroaches also came out of the hole.
Really lovely family who seemed very helpful Nice outdoor area and rooftop (could be great with some seating and plants) Quiet location despite being really handy for the City Palace and train station This could be a beautiful guest house with a few upgrades and TLC.

PolandThe room had no ac, only the fun. There were no toileters only the towel - but these things agree with the offer, so read carfully while booking so that not to be surprised. The bathroom was in a poor shape but no problem with hot water. They do not accept card payment.
I apprecite the free pick-up from the train station in the night hours. Location is good, close to the train and bus stations in rather clean area. Room was big and clean. WiFi was ok. Can store baggage after check out.

IndiaThere is nothing much to like about the Hotel, its located in a very congested locality and the hotel itself is very congested , the staircase of the building a very steep, not recomended for older people who have knee problems. The rooms are old fashioned and not very modern. The price of the food as compared to the quality of the hotel is a little too high, maybe they are making it high for the foreigner rates. Eg. One cup of tea cost Rs 50 which is equivalent to a expensive hotels. You dont expect those sort of high price in a budgeted hotel. But you cant complain much as a tourist. i booked this hotel due to its rating but i am not sure if it deserve a 9.5 ratings.
The rooms are fully equipped with AC in working conditions which is good for a place like Jaipur. The rooms are neat and clean.
