How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Loved my stay at Moustache Varanasi - it was really social, in a great location and with an amazing chef! The staff were lovely and very helpful - special thanks to Sunil, Bhim, Yash and Mayank!!! You guys are amazing :)

The staff were so welcoming and friendly. They really made the energy of the hostel warm. The terrace is such a great place to socialise and take it easy and the beds had everything you need; curtains, a fan, AC rooms, a light and chargers! Lots of friendly travellers passing through too and in a nice location, just outside of the centre of the city. Would definitely recommend ☀️

Bed was very high and had a wide gap between myself and the wall, was worried about rolling out of bed or have my possessions crash on to the person below

my locker was broken

As always guests who do not know how to respect and think they are in a hostel in London. Obviously this is not the hostel's fault.
The best thing about this hotel is the staff, very polite,especially Sunil always with a smile. Unbeatable location, cleaning is ✔️ ,hot water ✔️,Ac ✔️ and the rooftop very cozy.

The communal area had loud music playing late at night which is not ideal if you’re in the dorm next to it - come prepared with ear plugs.
Moustache Varanasi is a lovely hostel near in a quiet location but convenient to the ghats. The sunrise tour organised by staff was a great way to explore the city from the river. The rooftop restaurant had a nice variety of food which was reasonably priced. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

It’s my second review 🥳 here..!! Initially booked for three days and then extended and stayed for ten days.. This is the right place to stay in varanasi for solo or a group travellers. I love the roof top terrace where I made many new friends there..!! Highly recommend this property. Don't look for a second thought, don't think about it, just book your stay here !!!

Moustache hostel was a great place to stay in Varanasi. The staff was really helpful and welcoming. The roof terrace and ambience is great. very well maintained property which is located just 5 min walk from Assi Ghat… This is not my first time either, I stay here whenever I come to Varanasi. And finally the host he is the best that i have never seen

One minor issue I encountered was the presence of mosquitoes.
I had an incredible 8-day stay at Moustache Varanasi, and it was made even more memorable by the vibrant Holi festival organized by the hostel. The staff, including Yash, Bheem, Shiva, Sunil and others were exceptionally friendly and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The positive vibe of the hostel was infectious, creating an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie among guests. I made many new friends during my stay, bonding over shared experiences and adventures in the enchanting city of Varanasi. The Holi festival organized by the hostel was an unforgettable experience, filled with colorful festivities and joyful celebrations. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that everyone had a fantastic time, creating lasting memories that I will cherish forever. Overall, my time at Moustache Varanasi was nothing short of amazing. From the welcoming staff to the vibrant atmosphere and the unforgettable Holi festival, it was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. I can't wait to return and create more memories at this wonderful hostel.
