Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing - everything was perfect!
The best part about this homestay are the family that own it. We felt so welcome when we first arrived. They went above and beyond to help us with anything that we needed - information about how to use the metro, places we should visit, how to get to places, where the nearest shops/atms were, what taxis to use from the airport and what cost we should expect to pay, booking us a taxi to get to the train station… the list goes on! Our room was perfect. We had breakfast with the family every morning and it was different every day so we got to enjoy different food. We also booked a food walking tour of Old Delhi with Sager who had a wealth of knowledge of the area and took us to many traditional food places we would have never found on our own. The food was delicious and it was a fantastic introduction to India as first-time visitors. We hope we can come back soon! Thank you so much 😁

United KingdomNothing.
A excellent introduction to Indian culture. The whole family made us very welcome. Sugar took us on a old Delhi walking tour which is highly recommended. We also had cookery lessons which was very interesting. The food was very tasty. We got a deeper understanding of the Indian culture. Highly recommended stay. We couldn't thank the family more.

United StatesStaying at Prakash Kutir with the Gupta family was for us the perfect introduction to India. We and our two boys (9 and 12 years old) absolutely loved it. The rooms were comfortable, the food was DELICIOUS and the support that we received from the Gupta family was exceptional. The location was perfect, in a calm and green area, with easy access to the metro line. We originally planned to stay 2 days, but extended to 5, and will come back!

BelgiumLaundry service was a bit more expensive than we were used to elsewhere in India. The twin beds were not so easy to join together because of their elaborate wooden frame, even though we had asked beforehand about this. They did as well as they could though and it was a minor problem for only 2 nights.
The B&B is located in a family's home in a very nice and safe neighborhood. They made us feel very welcome and all of them got involved, making it feel almost like a homestay. Breakfast was great, with auntie whipping up chapati after chapati from the kitchen while the table was filled with food. Beautiful and comfortable room, laundry service provided. They have a list of activities they are happy to help with and organize. Would definitely stay here again when in Delhi!

United KingdomAfter arriving from Nepal (and being picked up from airport which was organised by the b&b) straight away when arriving it was money, money, money (pay for the taxi now. We hadn't even sat down in the lobby. I had to ask if we can at least check in 1st. We had a 3 night stay so we weren't going anywhere fast!. To this a reply was the atm is 50 metres away! It really annoyed me (they had very little English too - which if your gonna run a b&b then it would make things alot easier. Then another thing on check out, the lady tapped her tip box and said you can tip if you want. Just very money orientated and it's very off putting
The beds were comfortable and the set up of the b&b was cute where the rooms were Easy access in and out and breakfast the one time we managed to have it was lovely and fresh

United StatesI have hesitated in writing this review, but the discomfort I felt has persisted and perhaps this feedback will be useful for the home owners. I have traveled extensively in India and have felt warmly welcomed everywhere. This was the exception, unfortunately. I am always an early riser and when I would show up for breakfast at the posted time, I was greeted with a scowl and what felt like a begrudging tolerance of my presence. I started to make tea upstairs and purposely wait to go down and eat because I felt that I was imposing on the family. That was uncomfortable for me. When I opted to eat dinner at home, I was asked to pay immediately - before finishing the soup. It felt abrupt. The second night, I stayed in my room and skipped dinner as it was so unpleasant. The day I left, there was no help with my bags or any goodbye. The driver that rang the bell was kept waiting for 30 minutes and nobody came to let me know the driver was there. I know that a homestay is different from a hotel and I didn't expect to have all the amenities I might have, however courtesy was something I had expected (and have received at other home stays in the past.)
It was nice to visit with other travelers each morning - people from all over the world. I enjoyed my room (which was very large) and how every floor has a full kitchen to use. The private bathroom was large and clean as well. I recommend the dinner if you feel like having a night at "home" - as the food was excellent.

United KingdomWe did not experience a warm welcome. The person checking us in unfortunately did not speak English so it was hard to communicate with him. We tried to organise a taxi for early next morning to take us to airport but he did not understand so we gave up trying! We were 2 flights of stairs up and he did not even help us with any of our luggage - he walked up behind us empty handed seeing us struggle. We did not get much sleep due to dogs barking all night - even though the dogs did not belong to the property I feel this is important to mention. The photos of the property must have been taken a long time ago and I feel there are not a true reflection of what the property is actaully like now.
Our room was spacious and it was good to have use of kitchen area. On our first night staying here the family cooked us a delicious meal (even though the experience was ruined by a very small child running round the dining table slamming a metal pot on glass tables very loudly)!

United KingdomYour arrogance and twisting of the truth is without limit it seems. This review will be more of a response to the twisted comment from this guesthouse following our first review and feedback. Let’s get the facts right: - I emailed you my already found itinerary (photos below!), I never asked for you to make me an itinerary that I would use elsewhere! - We used a different company than your brother’s because: A: he did not tailor the tour to what we wanted to do and kept insisting on forcing his own itinerary, despite my explanation and providing our own already prepared itinerary. I am sorry but if we do not wish to sip a lassi on a rooftop but would rather go and explore sights instead with our guide, I feel that should be accomodated. B: the price of the tour from your brother went from 600-700$ range over the phone, priced to 689$ in writing, within 15 minutes a further email highlighting a new price of 989$ (for the exact same tour!)was received. Email from your brother: “Correction in the price. It is USD 989 (as per the current exchange rate of USD - INR and valid for the next 5 days). My apologies. All the accommodations are subject to availability at the time of booking. These are personally selected and of the standard of Prakash Kutir or better.” For much less money, we got a wonderful comfortable private 5 days tour with great guides, fantastic driver and 5 stars accommodation for 4 nights (not that this was a standard of hotels that we needed or was important to us but it was clearly a non brainer considering your overpriced option for staying in guesthouses) and, most of all, we got an itinerary that suited us. The one WE asked for and drafted. We are long time travellers and we are more than happy to pay a reasonable price for services but we are not willing to be used as “walking wallets” by the likes of you.

United KingdomThe lady of the house and her husband are sadly the coldest hosts we encountered in 4 weeks of traveling in India. A real shame as the place has tremendous potential but their attitude ruins the experience. Their son seems to be the only person there with Customer Service experience. The already wealthy eldests’ priority seems to be to accumulate money demanding money, money and more money out of the guests (tours, spices, evening meals, transportation…). One of our experiences was about storing luggage in between stays. I must add that I did ask if storage was an option 3 weeks prior to our first stay, no response…. Asked again when we checked in….. was told it would 150 ruppies per bag…. When I asked, numerous times, the morning of check out where I could leave the bags for the storage, I eventually got an agitated response that I had to give her the money “NOW”, I had very little on me and explained “it is 450 ruppies, I can pay you that when we come back for our second stay which is already paid for and confirmed”, to which I was told rudely and aggressively “give me every ruppies you have”and “by the way it is 150 ruppies per bag, per day!”…. By that stage, I still have no answer as to where to store our bags but the demand for cash was clearly desperate and came across as an obsession! Needless to say that with that attitude and ridiculous ever rising pricing for the service, I took the bags away with us and found an alternative solution! Another pathetic reaction from this landlady to share: if you book and pay for a triple room with a toddler on tow (highlighted during the booking), don’t expect that your child will be able to get a fried egg or something other than the standard breakfast spread (too spicy for a European toddler) because she will refuse. Staying somewhere like this will give you the wrong impression of Locals. Luckily we were at the end of our trip… but I can not recommend this place to anyone.
