David, the host, was very welcoming and kind. He prepared a wonderful dinner for us on arrival. He also suggested a sunrise boat trip around the waters, which lasted 3 hours. This was well worth the experience for the reasonable price he gave us. This place is perfect if you want to fully wind down and relax, read a book, etc. Full of nature, and no noise at all.

We could not honestly fault this place! It is in a beautiful location, ideal for watching the traditional Keralan houseboats go by. It was extremely peaceful in a quiet area, a perfect place to come and relax. The staff were extremely attentive without being overwhelming and the food was some of the best we had on our trip. There were kayaks available to use for a small fee. Boat trips are also available which we would highly recommend. The room was a great size with everything you could possibly need. It was very tastefully decorated with a huge bed, private plunge pool and dining area situated at the entrance with a sliding door if you would prefer to eat in the privacy of your own area. If we ever come back to Kerala, we would definitely revisit sunsets and palm trees!

It was a little paradise beautifully presented. Very peaceful with fantastic views over the river We had a private jacuzzi and private garden. The staff attended to our every need with no trouble David made all of our outings easy and very well organised. We could not have had better service A fantastic place as a first stay in Kerala. Very little to criticise. One thing would be be to use a mattress protector. There’s just the mattress and the bottom sheet. Be aware the beer is expensive so stock up before you go.

This is a fantastic setting and set up for relaxing away from it all near quiet backwaters and is a tuk tuk ride away from amazing experiences such as the beaches and Alleppey town. There are some amazing local walks through paddy fields to appreciate nature and meet local people. The food is tremendous and David and his staff go out of their way to know you and make your stay special.

Our experience at Sunsets and Palm Trees was nothing short of incredible. The accommodations are absolutely stunning, nestled right by the serene Backwaters, offering breathtaking views that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a dream. However, what made our stay truly exceptional was the unparalleled hospitality of our host, David. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was incredibly friendly, always available, and did everything possible to ensure we had the best experience. Even when we needed a last-minute additional booking, he made it happen effortlessly. The food was delicious, and every meal was prepared with so much care and attention to detail. The warmth and generosity we experienced at Sunsets and Palm Trees made us feel completely at home. That we couldn’t stay longer

Sunsets and Palm Trees is a very special place - one of a kind… David and all his team were so friendly, helpful and made the stay over Christmas so comfortable and relaxed. The location is out of this world - we saw so much wildlife just while eating our breakfast and you wake up to the sounds of birds and the river. There has been so much thought put into all the details of the accommodation and it is the perfect mix of luxury but authentic Keralan style. We loved the pool and canoeing up the river! We had dinners with them as well as breakfast and the food was some of the best I have eaten on the trip. David also went above and beyond to help with our onward travel plans and some illness and it was so nice to get to know him a bit whilst we were there. This place is a real gem!!

I would say be careful when leaving the jacuzzi, the floor when wet is slippery and I had quite a bad fall.

On arrival the manager Aslam offered a complimentary beer. Villa 1 was great, excellent bathroom, water was always hot. Loved sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the river. The staff were flexible about breakfast and dinner cooked by the owners wife was excellent. The property is right on the river between the government boat stops. The boats to Alleppey are great and cost pennies. Champakulam is a short walk away for shops including a good supermarket. The property is great for birdwatching, we were treated to the sight of 6 parrots yards away reacting with each other. In short the property is in a great location, right on the river. The staff are great.

Some extras are a bit expensive (kayak, laundry) and not included, especially when you already pay a quite amount of money for this hotel.

The view is stunning! Very good location to explore the backwaters. Peaceful and quiet stay, excellent to get some rest. Aslam and David were very kind and the communication with them was really good. David helped with planning our trip and gave us good recommendations! I would definitely recommend this place. The food was also really good and the breakfast was delicious and a lot!

Nothing of importance.

The accommodation is spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The location is quiet and directly on the river. You can also walk to some rice fields nearby. Food is good. The host David knows a lot about India and is happy to share his experiences. He is really helpful and arranged everything we needed.

A perfect place to relax and soak up the backwaters for a few days or more - from the small private pool or room verandah. Easy to walk around the rice fields and villages too. Very stylish and clean and right on the water. Food was fresh and delicious. Staff very helpful.

Everything was just perfect in this little gem hidden away from the buzzing crowds of Alleppey. What truly sets Sunsets and Palmtrees away is the very tasteful design of the rooms. The whole ambient, embedded in the jungle at the water front is just mesmerizing. The whole staff is the nicest and takes good care of all our requests. Rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. You can rent Kayaks, go fishing or just relax in the pool

For both days of our stay, breakfast came to us late 9.30am and the next day at 10.30am (due to the rain). We were told that breakfast can only be ready at 9am every morning. This should be improved regardless of the weather. Breakfast is very simple food is just okay. Dinner is expensive and mediocre.

Located at a peaceful and quiet part of Alleppey. Good place to unwind, relax and enjoy the backwaters view. Excellent service from the care taker Vishnu.

The hot water didn’t work one day. We booked a boat tour through the property, which was quite expensive, more than we expected. Overall the extra costs were a little expensive.

David and Vishnu were super friendly ans accommodating, and made us feel right at home. The property is beautiful and great location. The food is also wonderful.

The property is right on the water and the views are great. The property had kayaks that you could hire and paddle out on to the backwaters.

But disappointed we had to pay for use of canoes especially having paid a reasonable rate for the room. Staff were amazing but felt they a bit understaffed.

Beautiful location right on the backwaters. Stylish, comfortable rooms. Manager was great, lovely person. Food was also very tasty.
