Whereabout hostel is a perfect place to visit on weekends with friends and staff is very friendly and help when you need. Rooftop cafe is amazing with an excellent view with great food

The hostel is situated nearby lake view which offers a thrilling vibe & creates loving destination for staying. Lovely cafe at roof top which gives the breezing Vibes & the evening 🎸 Concert by hostel gives you a massive drive. Food & other Hospitality were amazing. Also a good tour arrangement by hostel for me ....they engaged with me & provided me with a good company and helped me in exploring all the beauty of Udaipur. In short Must recommended as I felt in my stay a great positive vibe like a good family & friendly environment maintained by hostel staff & other parties engaged.

Nothing, perfect place for udaipur.

The property is located in the main old city of udaipur just next to pichola lake, they have a big free parking space as well. The host here is really amazing it feels like a family here. The dorms are really spacious and comfy here, so clean and hygienic environment. All the tourist places are very close to the property, I covered the whole city by foot only as all places are at the walking distance only. They have a very beautiful rooftop cafe where we enjoyed the live singing and the delicious food. The views were amazing from the rooftop. Lakeview at night feels so smooth at night. I went to a lot of offbeat places of udaipur with whereabouthostel as they are also offering the best tours and I literally feel that their tours are really amazing.

Whereabout Hostel, Udaipur – Great Location, But Disappointing Overall I stayed at Whereabout Hostel expecting a vibrant backpacker vibe, but left feeling pretty underwhelmed. Let’s start with the positives: the location is genuinely excellent. It’s just a short walk—about 350 meters—to major Udaipur attractions like City Palace, Jagdish Temple, and the ghats. The rooms are clean, and the property is well-maintained. Also, shoutout to the volunteers Om and Deep—they were warm, helpful, and probably the only part of the stay that felt truly welcoming. But that’s where the good stuff ends. The rooftop was a major letdown. It's advertised as a chill space with views, but in reality, it was completely empty most of the time. No crowd, no vibe, no music—just a dead space. The sunrise and sunset views were underwhelming, and when I asked for a beer multiple times, there was none available. For a place that positions itself as a social hostel, it didn’t even meet the basic expectations. Honestly, the whole atmosphere felt cold and disconnected. If you’re a solo traveler or someone looking to meet people and hang out, this place might not work for you. After this, I moved to Mantra Hostel, and the difference was night and day. Mantra had an actual crowd, a lively rooftop, regular social events, a bar that serves drinks, and sunset views that made you pause. It felt like the kind of place Whereabout wants to be, but isn’t. In short, Whereabout is okay if you just need a bed in a prime location. But if you're looking for a full hostel experience with energy, people, and proper backpacker vibes—go to Mantra instead.

1. We booked a spacious room with a large bed, but upon arrival we were given a very small room with a small bed. The manager said he tried to call us to inform us, but honestly, if the room differs from the description — that’s misleading. It’s better to update the listing than to explain changes after the booking is made. 2. Very poor soundproofing — earplugs are a must if you want to sleep. At 4 AM, a staff member was loudly knocking on the neighbor’s door for 15 minutes to check someone in, which woke us up. 3. The AC in our room kept getting turned off remotely from reception (apparently in case guests forget it on when leaving). But we never left it running, and still had to go downstairs every time to ask them to turn it back on. 4. My husband couldn’t go out early in the morning to see the sunrise because the hostel was locked and nobody was answering calls or messages.

1. Clean room and fresh bed linen. 2. Evening rooftop jam sessions might be a plus for those looking for social activities. 3. Common lounge and rooftop café with a nice view.

I am writing the review with a bit of a heavy heart. At first glance it seemed like a nice friendly hostel with a lot of things going on. Live music, sunrise/ set tours etc. But in the end we were very disappointed with our stay. The “chill” vibes of the staff were a bit too chill as they were sleeping during most of the day which made us unable to order any food or drinks. Also they took the rooftop parties a bit too seriously, partying until the morning and talking loudly right next to the rooms. It seemed more like a frat house than a hostel, our friend even told us multiple people(not even accommodated in this hostel) were using his dorm bathroom and sitting even sleeping (!!) on beds that belonged to other people. We took their “sunrise” tour as it was hyped up to us from the beginning but it was a total disaster. The guide came 40 minutes late so we missed the sunrise. We were promised “lots of snacks” and received one bowl of maggi and one chai. But the most important part was the guides absolutely ignored all safety precautions. They were speeding a lot, we had to rely on a tour guide from a different hostel to see where we were going. They were constantly standing on the scooter filming each other but the worst part is that they stopped on the road which made us slip and crash just not to crash into them… Me and my partner were seriously injured and the guides did NOTHING no sorry, how are you? Nothing. They flat out ignored us while other people tried to stop our bleeding. Even the guide from the other hostel got mad at our guides. When we got back to the hostel we decided to check out early (we were very done at this point) and they were still saying we should pay 700 per person for this tour … I don’t like writing bad reviews to places but I feel like this is hopefully a wake up call to tighten things up a bit.

Had paid for a regular room but put in a dorm for the same price. Moved the following night to another hotel where we were given a lovely room for exactly half the price and better facilities.

Parking gate was closed before we arrived. The passage did not allow our car to pass due to car being wide and their was no alternative for free parking around.
