Location is listed as around 20+ miles from Borgarnes but our GPS took us on back roads, some unpaved, and after a long drive from north of Akureyri these miles were somewhat burdensome. Once settled in, the property really is quite spectacular, remote, and unique.

Modern, clean, remote property with excellent food (with limited menu). Wonderful for short stay.

The final few kilometres into the hotel is a gravel road with some potholes. Just take your time and drive carefully. The parking lot is also gravel, so wheeling suitcases is a bit tricky. Maybe pull up closer to the doorway to unload.

The property, while remote, is nearly brand new absolutely stunning. The hotel owner has thought of everything. It is beautiful positioned up on a hill with spectacular views of sunsets. WE were provided with beautiful rooms, hot tub robes, and a lovely breakfast buffet. Staff were very friendly and helpful in terms of choosing the best routes to drive nearby.

the property was absolutely perfect. from the aesthetics of the hotel to the staff and the owner. it was just so beautiful and so happy we were able to stay there for one night. the dinner and breakfast was excellent as well. Lucas was great front of the house staff and was lovely to talk to. the owner and chef were so friendly and inviting for great conversation. the hot tub was the perfect t end to your long day.

We travelled Route 52 from the east to get to the property, the road was in terrible condition so the journey there was awful but once we had arrived the hotel was lovely

Road to hotel was very rutted with many pot holes Rooms on mountain side overlooked the parking lot. Remote if you want options for other restaurants

The location of the hotel was amazing. Perched in a valley with amazing views of the mountain range! The restaurant on site had a wonderful menu and everything was cooked and served perfectly (dinner and breakfast). We enjoyed our stay and will return no doubt!

There is a hot tube near a picturesque stream, dinner is offered. We had a cheeseburger and lamb. Delicious ! The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. The breakfast is delicious. We especially want to thank Łukasz for his help, understanding and smile.

The location is unbelievable, in the "middle of nowhere" but so cosy ! To be lost in the Iceladic Nature was a real dream for our last night. The breakfast is as perfect as the hotel !

There were no proper footpath to the hotel rooms from the carpark so large luggage had to be carried over

What a diamond in the rough! Everything about our stay was exceptional. The staff was very friendly. Our room was delightful with a view of the mountains. Beds extremely comfortable. Breakfast offered a wide variety of choices. Coffee excellent. Unfortunately, we didn’t have an opportunity to experience the unique hot tub due to the weather.

It is rather remote and a good 30 mins to Borgnes which was the only downer. We just planned our trip on second day to eat pizza in Borgnes at end of day before heading back to Basalt.

A good breakfast was included. Lovely place, lovely, helpful staff. The outdoor hot tub is an absolute delight. Robes and slides provided which was a lovely touch. Ate in one night and the lamb was excellent!

This hotel was overall fantastic. The staff was very friendly. The room was big, with amazing views and big windows. The hotel also has a hot tub which is included. We had the chance to hike to a waterfall 15 minutes away from the hotel which was an amazing experience. Would definitely stay here again!

The access can be daunting in bad weather but nothing a good car and positive attitude cannot overcome :)

This place is spectacular. From the location to the facilities and staff everything was luxury. I made a mistake with my Icelandic, got the word for anniversary wrong and mentioned honeymoon instead - was greeted with a very nice detail from the staff. The two nights here were amazing, the room was spacious with a great view, breakfast was plentiful and could even use the outdoors hot tub which uses hot spring water. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and wish I come back many more times. Thanks for everything!!
