Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IcelandUnreliable wifi in the room. Very hot room even with the radiator off. The window didn't close properly so the noise from the street came in. I had to unclog the shower drain from hair. Very noisy fans in the bathrooms.

AustraliaThe fully equipped kitchen and coffee machine are great. It’s easy walking distance to town. Street parking - limited spots out front of hotel. The single bed rooms are small but functional. Rooms are dark with insufficient lighting. Some issues depend on the room. 2nd floor stay - a curtain that didn’t cover the window (30cm gap). Shower vent you cannot turn off, and is a bit noisy (all rooms). Level 1 stay (Room 111) is much noisier. This room is next to the maintenance room where the venting system must be housed (or near) The relentless noise is incredibly irritating all the time. The shower vent was also much stronger. 3 hours trying to heat the room before realising the vent was sucking the room heat out. The towel heating rack had the knob removed to stop use. Art adorns the walls. Most is interesting and in good taste, but level 1 shows very poor judgement. Graphic art is okay in an art gallery where you expect it and have the choice to avoid it (e.g., full frontal nudity, graphic sexual acts). It’s inappropriate for a hotel because it’s very likely to make at least some guests uncomfortable, and then they cannot avoid repeated exposure if that’s where their room is.

PortugalA couple of things could be improved: - The curtains were too short, which was a real issue since our window faced the street with buildings directly across. Not ideal for privacy. - The room was way too hot, even with the heating turned off, which made it a bit uncomfortable at night.
We spent two nights here and had a really good experience overall. We had a small issue when we arrived—a bad smell in the bathroom—but as soon as we reported it via Booking, the staff reacted immediately and moved us to a larger, more comfortable room. Super quick and professional service! The breakfast was solid, the service was top-notch, and we left very happy with our stay. Would definitely recommend!

United KingdomThe self service aspect of check in was fine, but the lack of reception and lack of a radiator knob to turn down said radiator left us with a room temp of around 27 degrees and nobody to ask to help us. Not an ideal environment conducive to good sleep. Also the free coffee machine in the second floor needed it’s coffee refilling and wasnt working for the duration of our stay. It was dispensing v nice hot chocolate though. But when your up at 4 am for an early flight. It’s coffee you want, not chocolate. Lastly and back to the comfort of the room. We ordered a king size bed. Which we got… except it wasnt! It was 2 singles pushed together with a hard ridge between them. This made it very uncomfortable to actually share the bed space even if it was just for a cuddle.
The location is fine, it’s a short 10 min walk from the city centre. The breakfast was great. The self service check in worked fine. The staff we saw at breakfast time were kind and helpful.

United KingdomI don’t feel as though this hotel is worth the high price that we paid. The room was okay but small, the bathroom floor was dirty when we arrived and the radiator had a leak mark stained into the floor. The beds were okay and we slept alright. It definitely felt more like a glorified hostel than a hotel. The other room doors were very loud when opened and closed, it woke us up a few times each night thinking someone has got into our room. The breakfast wasn’t anything special just cold food, there was no hot food anytime we arrived, and there were not enough tables to facilitate the people wanting breakfast. We had to either squeeze onto someone else’s table or take food out the room to sit down. We ended up just going out for a breakfast in the end.
It was a 15/20 min walk from the main highstreet in Reykjavik and there was free parking out the front of the hotel. We enjoyed the no contact check-in and out.
