Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHost is very passionate about his uncle’s art and has great stories. He is currently working on putting a bathroom inside the room, which will definitely elevate the place. The shower outside is fantastic and a must try! I could stare at the art, that covers the room and ceiling, all day. Great location close to airport, blue lagoon, volcano hike, and about 50 min to main city.

NetherlandsIf I have to pick something, it would be that the pillows were a bit too hard for my liking, but I am picky when it comes to pillows.
The location itself was very practical. Easy to reach from the airport. The room had paintings literally from floor to ceiling. Our host was wonderful and told us lots of stories.

Great hotel for the airport. Such a quirky and interesting place - your bed is actually in the art gallery! The hot tub was an added bonus. The host shared the history of how the gallery came to be...

United KingdomA bit annoying you need to get out the building for toilet but acceptable. Owner is not very responsive for booking.com messages, but we end up sorting out our commute by ourselves so all good.
Absolutely love the art, the owner of the place very nicely introduced us the art and the facilities when we arrive

AustraliaThe only thing was the fact that the bathroom was inside Ragnar house. It was fine though.
The room we stayed in was huge, and very comfortable and warm. It also was decorated with heaps of artworks and was an incredible place to stay. Our host was also exceptional and went above and beyond to help us out. Thank you so much Ragnar!! The Viking shower was also great!

United StatesSince we arrived late we weren't able to receive welcome info from the host, and I had forgotten the bathroom is inside the hosts home, not in the room. This place would not work if you need to get up to use the toilet in the night. Maybe making a 'guest guide' to email guests and have in the room, with helpful info in one place about how and when accessing the bathroom, hot tub, shower, WiFi, and getting keys to the place (keys were not obvious and door was unlocked when we arrived). Ragnar was enthusiastic to share his uncle's art with us, but was in his bathrobe the whole time, which made us uncomfortable. Also, he told us he had the Icelandic flag at half mast in his front yard as his 'response' as an artist to his neighbor's Pride flag, so I would not advise anyone from the LGBTQI+ community to stay here.
You are sleeping surrounded by art! Learning about the artist and his artwork, as told by Ragnar, the artist's nephew whose life mission now is to bring Brimars art to the public. The location is good, in a quiet neighborhood near Keflavik. The beds were soft and comfy. Tea kettle and tea provided, couch, small sink and desk with chair. We arrived late at night and Ragnar left the door open for us, which was much appreciated. The hot tub and outdoor shower behind the guest room is heated by geothermal, and we wished we'd had time to use it, but it looked great!

AustraliaThe wifi essentially didn't work in the room. The bathroom was in the main part of the house (the gallery is separate), that wasn't a big problem for 1 night but could be annoying if staying multiple nights.
This quirky stay is very fun with all the art work that the owner explains was done by his relative. The mattress is on the floor but very comfortable. The room was very spacious. Close to airport. Easy to find.

United StatesWe did not have wifi access though it was listed. There is no shared kitchen. The bathroom is in the owner's house.
The room was spacious and location to airport worked for us. It was the only place we stayed in Iceland that had a fan :) We also enjoyed the art very much.

MaltaToilet and bathroom were outside the room. You need to walk about 3 metres, but it was clean, host never bothered us and given everything else about the place, it really did not bother us.
Quirky place, and host was very friendly giving us an account of his uncle experience who was the painter of the room where we stayed. He provided everything even a hair straightener, body creams, hot tub and bbq area. What a place and what an experience!
