Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe had to ask for extra bedding 3x before getting it, yet advised well ahead of time.

AustraliaNothing that we would say here regarding the hotel. Our only challenge was that the address is in Icelandic and our navigator could not find the road address provided. If you have internet Google maps takes you to the correct location however this does rely on internet access.
While this hotel is on the other side of the bridge at Borgarnes it is a lovely location and well worth the stop off. The rooms are quite small but clean and as you are only sleeping after a long day driving size is immaterial. It is very cosy and a real bonus is the hot tub and sauna access for guests. Breakfast is included and is a nice selection on cereals and cold foods with warm drinks available all day,

AustriaEverthing was good
We stayed in a bungalow. We had a view of the ocean and the hot bath was just 20m from the bungalow. It was a great stay for our last night in Iceland. The location for us was perfect as we wanted to stay close to the main road on the way back to Reykjavik.

Staff recommended a good restaurant for dinner as they're only open for breakfast. It was adequate for a place to sleep and have breakfast.

CanadaMake sure you are absolutely clear what you rent for what you are paying.
We were in a comfortable clean cabin. The staff were lovely helpful and accommodating. Our first room was small and like a dorm room and very expensive. However when I talked to them they moved us. Turned me from unhappy to happy We were a little late for breakfast and they still fed us which they didn’t have to. The people were truly hospitable.

GermanyWith the snow that had engulfed the area, salt on the sidewalks would have been nice. Also, the water smelled like sulfur (nothing anyone can do since it comes from a natural hot spring).
Room was small but very quaint! The views getting to the hotel and at the hotel were incredible, definitely an authentic Iceland experience. No breakfast included or offered, but coffee and hot chocolate were served 24/7 in the lounge area.

United StatesSlanted ceilings were too low for tall people.
Very friendly staff. Optional (not included) breakfast on site. Great view from the hotel. Quaint hotel. Upper floor has slanted ceilings - my tall husband banged his head a time or two, but I was fine. Small, cozy rooms. Fine for a night. Not sure I’d want to stay here long-term.

United KingdomHot tub temperature needed checking as it was far too hot and we couldnt sit in it. The manager did check this when we mentioned it. Rooms felt a little tired.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting and the room was adequate for our one night stay. It had everything we needed. There was a hot tub and sauna available to guests and a large lounge and dining area with microwave, kettle and everything you need to make food.

NetherlandsThe only very small downside was that there was no shower gel or shampoo available when we arrived in the room, but this was quickly fixed by asking the personnel for some.
The property was conveniently located and the views were amazing. We had the nice surprise of being able to use the hot tub when we arrived !

SwitzerlandA pleasant hotel with a (really) hot tub and a sauna. During the winter season they do not provide food. However, there is a bakery and an excellent restaurant in the town over the bridge. The rooms are nice, but have angles in the ceiling which is a little weird to navigate the room. During our stay, the hotel was doing renovations.

Czech RepublicWe didn't mind at all, the hotel is still very nice and clean, but it is a bit bit older and more plain, so do not expect anything too luxurious.
The staff was great, they even upgraded us to a better room since it was my mom's birthday. Kitchen was fully equipped. The location is also quite convenient and the outdoor jacuzzi and sauna was great in the evening to warm up a little bit (they have a changing room right next to it).

Loved the little cabin! Was absolutely wonderful. Great location if you're on a roadtrip. Neighbors saw the northern lights from their cabin the night before I arrived, so great potential.
