How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Value felt a little off, but such is the market in that area I suppose.

The price is too high
Good location, excellent breakfast. The room was quiet. Convenient free parking. You can dry your clothes overnight - there is an adjustable heating battery.

Room was clean and comfortable, the hotel had ample parking spaces and cleanliness is taken seriously. Breakfast was also great - with a lot to choose from incl. cereals, bread, jams, cheeses and hams, fruit etc.

It does come across as a little sterile, heavily catering to the larger group tour stop overs and one night stays.
This was a good, inexpensive choice for the area and quick stop along the ring road. It was clean and tidy. It was easy to pop into Vik for dinner.

Curtains are very poor at blocking out light, so if visiting from May - August it won't be dark inside the room overnight. Despite being in a very scenic location the rooms are strangely orientated and most don't actually have a view of Dyrhólaey and the coast.
Good sized room and bathroom, and stayed very warm even with very cold weather and winds outside. Also seemed to be well soundproofed as could not hear other people. Breakfast was also very good with a wide selection of hot and cold foods.

Nice and polite staff. Helped us with extra blankets and even a shoe dryer! Breakfast is really nice to kickstart your day. Rooms are plain and simple - just like in pictures. Perfect accommodation for 1-2 nights!

Wish we had a small refrigerator in our room.
Nice location near Vik, really nice and clean room and a good breakfast. Although there were a lot of people it was really quiet.

Location was easy to find with a combination of GPS and following signs. Ample parking space, and the hotel is located on a mountain top that gives good view of the surrounding area. Rooms are all located in separate single storey buildings which provides easy access for luggages, and connected to main reception/cafe lounge via internal walkways. Rooms were spacious, clean, well insulated, warm and comfortable. Bathrooms were clean - good showers and water pressure. Breakfast was held in a communal hall with a good spread of breakfast foods in local and continental cuisine.

The hot water seems to be limited. The first night we each had a hot shower, however, the day after the water was 'just' mildly warm. It is not that big deal, but would have loved it after a cold windy day in Iceland.
This is a somewhat remote hotel (no villages nearby) on the side of a hill. It comes with a nice view if you are lucky enough to get a room on that side of the building. The parking is free and there is a lot of space. The rooms are really clean. The beds are comfortable. The breakfast is the usual intercontinental one.

great location in south coast! was our overnight after doing a full day of waterfall sightseeing and hiking. room is big (think American size) and bathroom is nicely down. breakfast is great! nice Scandinavian food and very fresh plus included in the hotel price. hotel is close to black sand beach and the cliffs. would definitely stay here again if I’m in Iceland once more.

Breakfast should include lactose free milk, gluten free and sugar free options. Heater at the room was not that high but it was ok. Price was a little bit high.
Buffet breakfast with a lot of options (except for below), comfortable bed and bathroom, the shower and the window view were amazing.
