How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The breakfast was expensive and I think the note on the table unnecessary.
Even though the weather was bad, with some disruptions with the arrival of guests, the staff handled it very well and managed to check us in quite efficiently. Also, it was great to finally see a well-designed hotel interior.

The location is nice but a bit remote. All the rest is 10/10 The food is great. They have a good restaurant for dinner as well. The room is modern and cozy.

Breakfast at the restaurant was a tad expensive for a buffet. However coffee and muffins (other packaged food as well) were available and very good at the bar.
Super cool design with great amenities. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms spacious. I also loved the yellow wool blankets on the beds. It was nice to have a safe and fridge as well. The view from the room was fantastic, too. The bar and common area were a great addition especially the area in the corner that had large windows where you could look out on the landscape and have a drink or coffee. The restaurant was very good as well. Ample parking.

Amazing stay. Cosy hotel to seek refuge in during a snow storm. Modern sauna and hot tub. Celebrated a birthday and the hotel left a delicious treat. Would highly recommend!!

Parking on the weekend can be difficult other than that great day
Really enjoyed the spa area, the sauna was great. I was able to take advantage of the bad weather and go from the sauna to the snow which was amazing. The view from the hot tub spectacular

- The room was spacious, clean and well-decorated. The sockets in the room were insufficient, anyway, especially when they were not provided at bedside. - The breakfast was wonderful. There were so many food options and they were all delicious. - The staffs were friendly and helpful. - The room rate was a little bit pricey, but totally worth it.

Expensive
We had an oceanfront room which was very comfortable and had a nice view (though cloudy on our night, we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise the next morning). We enjoyed the sauna. Nice sized room, nice bathroom and shower. Coffee in the room was great. I had trouble getting my machine to work but a restaurant server gladly came to our room to help figure it out. He was very willing to help, efficient and pleasant. I sure appreciated being able to have my morning coffee! We did not eat in the restaurant to try to same some money. Expensive room, but at least it felt like it.

On the pricer side of Iceland. If you want luxury, Foss hotel is the best.
The hotel is comfortable and the food was wonderful. Especially the breakfast each morning. The staff is so friendly and helpful.

The booking process was terrible. I am a Travel Agent and I tried to book directly with them just like I do with any other hotels. They simply claimed year in advance that they were full. Plenty of rooms though on Bookings so I booked there instead.

Room was a good size, bed very comfy. Views from hotel were amazing. Restaurant served fabulous food in the evening and the bar food was also good sized portions and tasty! Outdoor hot tubs and sauna well worth a visit. Staff very helpful and friendly.

The best hotel we’ve stayed at while in Iceland. Close to the Glacier Lagoon/Diamond Beach, which is (in our opinion) the best place we’ve visited. Also a great location to see the northern lights!

A bit warm in the room.
Everything. The staff offered to wake up if the northern light is come to the hotel. Even though northern light did not come on the date of visit, we are happy during stay here.
