Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThe breakfast is an extra and is overpriced, especially as there is no alternative.
I really enjoyed this hotel. The location is amazing (if you can ignore the Thermal Power Plant), and amenities such as the thermal spa and Northern Lights bar were great. Also, the food was delicious, and I would definitely come again for the all-around experience.

Amazing and unique location. Comfortable room, we were luckily upgraded, otherwise standard rooms are compact. Geo thermal pool is amazing.

PolandEverything was perfect!
Wonderful Stay in Iceland! I had an amazing stay at ION! The rooms were clean, spacious, and offered breathtaking views of the Icelandic landscape. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making the experience even better. They offered us champagne and coffee and also helped us with trip planning! The location was perfect—peaceful and beautiful. The breakfast was delicious, and the outdoor hot tub was a fantastic way to unwind after a day of exploring. Highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable and unforgettable stay in Iceland!

This is an astonishing hotel. It’s an hour from Reykjavik but an eternity from reality. It’s a sort of wilderness. But with great food. An amazing pool / sauna and lovely rooms.

United KingdomThe windows in the room faced the hiking trail and there were no blinds in the bathroom, unsure if the windows were tinted.
The room was immaculately clean, we were in a Patio room which had windows out onto the hill behind the property. The restaurant food was superb, expensive (as expected) with a small menu. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Comfortable bed and the hot spa pool was relaxing in the snow. The aurora wake up call at 2am allowed us to see the northern lights from our patio.

United KingdomThe standard and deluxe rooms bathrooms are way too small and aren’t very luxurious. The patio room bathroom is slightly better but for the price you are paying for the standard and deluxe it shouldn’t be the case. Room decor is very weird and doesn’t really fit the vibe, there was a massive picture of a horse head on the wall. Beds are quite uncomfortable for the price. If the weather is bad and/or during the winter months, the hotel is very hard to get to especially at night, the north and south routes to this hotel are both ‘road conditions unknown’ on the safetravels app. On the north route down to the hotel, we experienced driving in very heavy snow on the road on mountain roads in the pitch black and it was very dangerous. We understand the hotel cannot control the weather but it should be made more clear which way to take so it is best to call the hotel to find out which way the staff took to the hotel. The location isn’t really great for anything apart from golden circle. Everything else is 1 hour+ drive away and in bad conditions that will take up to 2 hours. One of the staff members did say a direct route (435) is only open in summer so the location and road conditions issue are only a problem during winter not summer.
The pool is very unique and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We booked for 2 nights and weren’t happy after the first night so they did their best to accommodate our requests. We moved to ION city hotel in Reykjavik and it was so much better.

United KingdomObviously it's expensive, but that's Iceland. The fact breakfast isn't included in the price of a stay pushes it a bit, but you're in the middle of nowhere, so options are limited and that comes at a cost. The breakfast itself was fine, and we made the most of it to avoid needing lunch!
Beautifully designed hotel, especially the bar and lovely geothermal pool and small spa. The northern lights wake up call option is so handy. The lava suite was stunning.

United StatesWell, the only thing we were unaware of is the hotel is near a geothermal electric facility that just seemed odd. But it was fine. Be prepared, Eating and drinking in Iceland is not inexpensive. It is fairly consistent with any of the finer restaurants. Roads are narrow and so drive carefully.
We liked that it was well appointed, very well designed and not big. It has a great sauna and hot pool that we used every day after our hikes. The location is out in the national park, so don’t expect a lot of options for restaurants, but that was fine with us. There are a few but you’d need a car. It is located 30 minutes from the sweet city of Selfoss and an hour from Reykjavík. We also love the rugged terrain and the unique otherworldly-ness of the landscape overall.
