Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is right next to a trail which within 15 minutes you see a glacier which was lovely to do in the morning. The room we stayed in was in a different wing of the hotel so we could bring the car round, recommend checking in first rather than lugging your bags in right away. The staff were friendly and communicative. They offered a northern lights wake up but we were not fortunate enough to experience it. TV in our room didn’t really work, and the room did feel a bit dated, but it was still a pleasant and clean room. Breakfast provided is lovely and has good options. This hotel is also right near where many glacier tours start which I recommend doing!

Foot paths from the hotel grounds towards Skaftafell and glacier. Lovely meal in the restaurant and also choice of eating at the petrol station 5 minutes walk away.

United KingdomQuite pricey for what you get, but expected with the location and the fact that there are not many places to stay in the area!
Comfortable hotel, friendly staff, stunning views, and a great location along the south coast if you're breaking up the journey.

ItalyVery nice hotel, not far from Jokülsarlon lagoon, very clean cozy room with windows overlooking a glacier. The dinner at the restaurant wasn't cheap but the food was very good and dishes were big. Price is in line with the level of Iceland. The guy at the reception was nice and welcoming.

Not the best welcome experience by the staff at the reception. 50% chance you might meet someone who is having a bad day or doesn't like tourists. A side note, the kitchen menu stated "slow cooked lamb," which ended up being served medium grilled, looking pink inside. This was even after previously clarifying prior to placing the order about the well-done nature as the menu suggested "slow cooked." Just a warning to others, the name of the dish could be deceiving for those who prefer well-done meat. Although the waiter took It back to the kitchen and they cooked it a bit more.
The hotel is in a scenic area. Easy access to the glacier and hiking opportunities.

IndiaSome of the staff was not very helpful when asked information about driving around and chasing the northern lights. One would expect a local person from that area to know this info at the tip of their fingers, so I wondered why this lady was not willing to give us more details about how we can go about having the best possible northern lights experience.
The location was great. We saw the best Northern Lights ever just a short drive away from the hotel. The lights could even be seen from the hotel courtyard but it wasn't completely dark so we preferred to drive away a little. Rooms were very comfortable, quiet and with a good view. The food was delicious, and so were the drinks. The location worked well because of its proximity to the jokulsarlon lagoon and skaftafell national park. The room prices were also quite reasonable, atleast compared to anything else in that area.

Nice hotel with spacious rooms. Easy stop on the way to Vatjanokull glacier. Easy to do glacier walks from here. (Troll.is recommended!). Get food across the road at the gas station. Restaurant is expensive, but the cook sure knows what he/she is doing!

TaiwanThe hotel is rather unremarkable, but it seems to be the best option in the area for visiting the glacier. There’s a great hiking trail right out the back, and even if you’re not heading to the glacier, the views are still fantastic.

GreeceApart from the room witch was nice, the other facilities are kind of poor. We did the ring road trip and stayed at skaftafell hotel on our 2nd day. There is actually nothing to do close to the hotel so we visited their restaurant which was extremely expensive compared to all the others hotels we stayed. And the bar....is just 2 coaches and no person there to serve.
Breakfast was ok although they don't have espresso machine. Room was clean and the view of the mountains is breathtaking.
