Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsFor the price (even in Iceland) small room and small bathroom. Very basic.
Very good location (close to glaciers). The breakfast was also very good. Recommended place to stay if you have an activity near the glaciers.

BermudaThis was our second time at this hotel. First time we enjoy an excellent simple but tasty dinner at a reasonable price for Iceland. This time, when asked if we wanted a reservation for dinner, we of course said yes based on our previous experience. We couldn’t find a menu on line but assumed it would be as before. However, the now menu is very small and extremely expensive…….we ordered two main courses and, while they were good, it was way too “over the top” for the setting. My cod came with all sorts of extras which totally over powered the taste of the simple fish……we heard that the garage over the road served food (the garage is owned by the hotel btw). So next evening we went there. Cafeteria type fast food but was satisfactory for what we needed. I had fish and chips……lots of people from the hotel were there. Especially families with children.
Room was adequate with a view of the glacier. The staff were very friendly. Great walk to the glacier from the hotel. Perfect place to stay in the area. Breakfast was again very adequate and coffee good.

ItalyWe personally would have liked a minifridge to keep some products, but in Iceland it's not really a problem as keeping them in the car has the same effect.
Staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful. The breakfast offered good quality and variety. Location is perfect for glacier hikes in the vicinity, especially if you plan on an early start.

United StatesRestaurant pricing was very high, but the gas station food was amazing across the street. But it sounds like the gas station is also owned by the hotel. But lower pricing. Lamb burger was great (at the gas station!).
Not much in that area. The place was clean, and looked fairly new. Location was great for what we needed. Breakfast spread was “ok”. Scrambled eggs were not that great. Was able to walk around the trails at the back. Parking was easy.

GermanyThe only thing why I dont give a 10 is because they dont provide normal toilet paper in the rooms if not kind of "napkin".
Great Hotel as base to do the different activities and visits around Vatnajökull Glacier, actually is almost the only one in the area. The breakfast was great and generous. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

ThailandThe price is not cheap comparing with other hotels we booked in Iceland.
The location of the hotel is closed to the glacier. Breakfast is right on time so we can go out for the ice cave adventure early in the morning. The room is standard for an international hotel, good fit for 3 people in one room. Thanks for recommending us the best local guide tour for the ice cave.

IrelandWhoever designed the use of space in the room didn't do their best job, very weirdly done where the space for clothes and table was done. Hard to move around. But manageable for couple of nights. What I didn't like the most was that I already paid for room before arrival and they asked for my card details again, apparently for security. It seemed absolutely unsecure to me.
Nice location, breakfast similar as everywhere in Iceland. Maybe top up bread and porridge more often, don't wait until very last piece is taken. Room was warm.
