Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BulgariaThe kitchen was not so clean, there were not enough forks and spoons. There was no oven. In the bathroom the water cannot evacuate the space easily. And last but not least: in barrel 6 it was very cold. The window was not well protected and we tried to compact it with socks. This techniques partially works, but better repair it ;)
It was clean in the barrels, the bathrooms and toilets

United KingdomWe purchased foods that would cook in the microwave that was on site, only to find that such microwave would be broken. There was no signage to state this so we had to trash the food.
Cosy little barrel that is perfect for a weekend away. Beautiful location and friendly staff.

United KingdomCode then key to open the bathroom doors was a pain, particularly in the middle of the night. One key was not in the lockbox, although the toilet wasn't in use...

GreeceVery narrow barrel, suitable only for a sleep. There is a table but the whole place is very-very small. WC is 20 m away but they were clean. Beds were not very comfortable.
It was quite good for a night's sleep only

BelgiumStaff could have provided better explanations how to access the bathroom/shower with codes and keys as it is not so straightforward. Though once understood from the neighbours, it was ok.
Despite the cold and rainy weather, the barril was heated and super comfortable and cozy. The bathroom and shower are outside but very clean and also heated. Just behind a beautiful hill with view to climb. Possibility of very good breakfast in the hotel near by. A super experience.

ChileBed blanket + towel is a bit expensive I think, and there could be 1 extra shower ( there is only 2). But overall everything is great
Everything was great, the staff is really friendly, the place is beautiful and the barrels are cozy and warm. We had pizza on the restaurant and it was amazing. Easy check in and check out

FinlandWiFi didn't work Shower curtain would be nice and something to wipe the floor with, now the floor was flooting. There was also a smell of urine in the shower room.
The barrel was nice and quiet, we slept very well. There was enough room for two of us

United StatesPillows are below average. Heat didn’t work too well but could be due to the fact we stayed during a very bad wind storm. During high winds and high gusts, wind was leaking through the walls and we could feel it.
We stayed last minute during a very bad wind and rain storm that closed roads for almost 2 days. The barrels provided a safe and dry place for us to sleep. The shared bathrooms were spotless and modern.

Netherlandshaving to go outside in a storm to the bathroom is not the most fun, especially if all the keys in the lockers are mixed up!
It was a booking because all lodging in Hofn area were full (except the overpriced ones). So this was a little out of the way, the barrels are actually very comfortable, and I booked it again for the next night! The people at the desk were very friendly in making sure I could keep the same barrel.

CanadaThe cabin was a little cramped for three people, and though we got blankets/duvets that smelled very clean, there was no top sheet or duvet cover. We were told at check-in at the Hotel Framtid that linens were available for rent, but we had our own towels and didn't want to drive back to get a top sheet. In order to access the toilet or shower, you had to enter a code to access a keybox and grab the key, then return the key to the keybox each time, so this was not terribly convenient.
The cabin was clean, a decent value for money, and located in a nice little village. Since it was a separated cabin, it felt kind of private. It was also a a little novelty to stay in a barrel cabin.

United StatesMost of the cooking pots in the kitchen did not work on the induction burner and caused some confusion for us and other guests. There was also little information on using the washer and dryer. The sign noted payment needed, but not the type of coin. It turned out we needed a token instead of a coin and we were expected to have clothes pins for line drying, but that’s certainly not something we packed for international travel.
We enjoyed the unique type of stay and the beds were very comfortable. The separate bathrooms for the barrels was also a nice touch since it was chilly the nights we were there.

GermanyAn exceptional and special accommodation for those looking for something different. The barrels are very spacious, clean, and tidy; they contain the basic linen, but you should either bring a sleeping bag or rent proper sheets from the hotel that manages the campsite. There are also showers and toilets (very clean and warm) for barrel campers only (separate showers are for the rest of the camp) which was much appreciated. The kitchen, however, is rather small (I suppose the campers hang out there in case of bad weather) and is shared with everyone.

United StatesCamping in the USA where we are from is a quiet, peaceful activity. Unfortunately, there were some guests near us who kept walking back and forth on the gravel which was loud, and speaking/shouting loudly with and at each other. This of course, is not the fault of the property, but more a matter of courtesy of the guests.
The camping barrel was warm, cozy, and unique. The location was set aside from the city so it was quiet. The window shades darkened the barrel just enough that the extended daylight hours were not an issue.
