How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Rooms have very little ventilation. Somewhat noisy. Beds are small.
Very clean, modern. Bar in lobby is nice. Restaurant has very good food!

The hotel does not have a shuttle from the airport, only to the airport and despite being an airport hotel, it is on the other side of the airport so not near the terminal. They make this clear on their website, but it is something to be aware of.
Very comfortable hotel with full amenities. The room and bathroom are both spacious and the beds are very comfortable. We stayed here to catch an early morning flight and it was perfect for that. The on-site restaurant is reasonably priced (for Iceland). Despite being close to the airport, the room was very quiet even with a window open.

The location of the hotel feels a little strange as it is a former US military base. Likewise the hotel has a military feel to it. My room was huge but pretty sparse, like no color or art on the walls. If all you want to do is sleep, it's does the job.
I booked here due to its proximity to the airport, which made it really easy to return my rental car and get through security at 5am. My room was enormous and comfortable.

Very close to the airport with very large and airy rooms. The free airport shuttle service was punctual (but make sure you book it)

The distance to the hotel was not at all what we expected: much farther. (This was our 5th stay in Iceland) For the cost of the hotel plus midnight transportation, we will stay closer to the airport next time, as I have done previously. The once/hour transport in the morning is also an inconvenience because it either made fort a longer wait at the airport, or a 'run for it'. If not every 30 minutes, then 45 min would be a decent compromise. (The transport is 'free'...but we still pay for it in our bill) The layout of the breakfast area confused many people, as we observed and experienced. All should be in a simple and VISUAL order: plates, silverware, cups/bowls, food. All was in different areas. Also the trolley for depositing used dishes was not obvious for departing guests. All this is simple to fix!
Staff was prompt and helpful. Room very silent. Decent breakfast. Kudos for the breakfast staff: one young adult was angry because there was no gluten free food which was supposed to be 'normal' and he really and rudely harassed the staff (who have no control over this) who didn't know what to say. I have four adult children, and one of our grandchildren as well who are all gluten-free and none by choice. One becomes desperately ill, for weeks. GF options are more and more available, but the customer also needs to know that a true gluten-free environment has to adhere to VERY strict rules to avoid cross-contamination! Thus it is up to the customer to check for everything, and if needed provide GF bread, etc. I felt sorry for them, and for his mother as well.

Our room was close to the hotel bar, so I kept hearing noises and people laughing/talking when I was trying to sleep.
The hotel is very nice and clean. The bathroom was quite luxurious, especially after camping for 11 days 😊 there was also a free shuttle to the airport in the morning.
