Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalWhile overall the experience was great, there were a few things to note. The bathroom had a slight smell, which is common in Iceland due to the geothermal heating system used for hot water, but it wasn’t a major issue. Towels are only provided upon request, though the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in a separate facility, which can get a bit crowded during peak times. Also, there are quite a few stairs to the studio, which might not be ideal if you're carrying large bags. Despite these minor points, it was still a pleasant stay.
The location is absolutely fantastic! We stayed in the studio, which was spacious enough for four people and included the added convenience of a private bathroom and kitchen. Breakfast was included, with a great variety to choose from. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the check-in process was smooth and straightforward. Overall, a wonderful experience!

United KingdomThought it was in one main building but it was dotted around. The entrance smelt strong of smoke as the room next door had a fire
Clean, basic and everything is walkable..right by the church and bus stop.

PortugalThe guesthouse has shared bathrooms, but the number of bathrooms available is not enough for the number of guests, leading to queues for showering in the morning.
The room was comfortable, with a big and very soft bed. The room included a samll kitchen, which was really perfect. The staff was very helpful and nice. The breakfast was good, way better than I expected. The location is just perfect, close to the cathedral and in a very quiet area. Everything was super clean and well organized.

MalaysiaNot much choices for breakfast. I booked for twin bedroom instead I got 3 beds (wasted a lot of space to put my luggage’s). Hot water is too smelly compared to hotel. Not suitable for the people with heavy luggage!

SerbiaThe room was small, which in itself is not a problem - but it was very impractical. For example we didn't have where to hang our wet jackets and pants after our excursions (and they were wet in winter). I'd suggest adding more hooks or bringing your own adhesive ones. I would have liked to have access to some cleaning equipment to be able to wipe the floor or sweep it during the stay since it was not cleaned while we were in it. The fridge! We didn't complain about this so we don't know if it would have been resolved, but the mini fridge we had was freezing all the food we put in it. We adjusted it to the lowest setting but it still did it. Spoiled all of the vegetables and fruit we bought and it was a nuisance to have to take out food for an hour or two to thaw before eating anything.
Location is exquisite, very central. And I really have to praise the hairdryer they have, it's not a standard hotel one that takes you 20 minutes to dry your hair, it is a really good one. The bathroom was decent, being cleaned once daily and we were lucky to share it with people who kept it clean after use.

United KingdomThere's nothing I didn't like! Visitors note when you book Guesthouse Andrea is a separate building around the corner from Guesthouse Aurora but they are run by the same people. Reception and breakfast for Andrea are at Aurora not always clear on booking.com and Google reviews
The room was warm and clean, beds comfortable. We had kettle, microwave and fridge as well as crockery and cutlery, washing up liquid was supplied. Breakfast was in the main Aurora guesthouse was plentiful and had fresh warm bread cereals coffee juices and more. Shared shower room was always clean and tidy. Truly awesome shower. Shower gel was supplied in a dispenser in the shower and was very nice, I have sensitive skin and used no issues. Very central and 5 mins walk from Hallgrímskirkja and main shopping area. A Brauð & Co bakery shop just off the square by Hallgrímskirkja do not listen to Google maps. Also a hot dog stall at the beginning of the same road. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Personally I recommend this guest house highly as a good value for money central place to stay.

TaiwanWe found a disposable hot pack in one of our beds, probably left by the last visitor. There was no heater in the bathroom, making us a bit cold after shower.
I am kinda surprised with the various breakfast options including different types of drinks, breads and jams, etc. The location is pretty close to the downtown area.
