Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesParking was a little scarce and the shared bathroom wasn’t amazing.
It was a great location in downtown Reykjavik and was a good price. It also had a nice breakfast and allowed us to check in late.

Czech RepublicThe shared bathroom needs some cleaning (there was a bit of mold on the ceiling). Not an accommodation fault but other tourists can't behave during breakfast when there are more people around.
The location is right next to the Hallgrímskirkja. The breakfast was fine.

United KingdomNo hand soap in the bathroom and wasn't filled up at any point during the duration of our stay.
Great location, very close to city centre, breakfast was really good, check-in was super easy and straightforward. Room was nice and cozy, even had a fridge and kettle and beds were comfortable.

GermanyIt could have been a little bit cleaner, there was some dust under the bed and the bathroom could have been cleaned more regularly. Considering the prize, it was okay though. Other guests were pretty loud in the middle of the night, you could hear every step on the stairs.
There was a kitchen we could use for preparing our own meals and storing food in the fridge. Since we did not expect it, it was a great surprise. Plus the walk to the city center was only 5-10 minutes.

They made the after hours check in very simple and were helpful when i asked for advice on how to get to the accommodation. The breakfast is good and sets you up for the day. Room was clean, fine for a short stay.

Czech RepublicThe room for 2 people was very tiny so you maybe have to do a little downsizing. The equipment of room/kitchen was quite poor.
The room in the centre with solid price and the possibility of breakfast. Self-check in the evening was no problem.

Easy Going friendly place to stay less than five minutes walk from Hallsgrim Church and bus stop. Breakfast room had the facilities to use during the day/evening to make and eat your own food. Plenty of hot water on the two nights I stayed there.

GermanyVery easy check-in, we had a 4-bed-room and a studio. The 4-bed-room was totally fine for us, the studio was really great! Super cosy and comfortable with bathroom and kitchen :) Breakfast was very fine with bread, different jams, peanut butter, chocolate spread, eggs, cheese, butter, different types of muesli and some juices. Coffee and tea as well. Unfortunately no vegan milk, that would have been perfect ;)

GreeceThe water of the bathroom it was very very smelly, I don't know if has to do something with the springs that they have in Iceland or something else.
The location was very nice. Very close to the main church (Hallgrimskirja) and in general to the center by foot. It was 8 minutes till the BSI bus terminal and 20 minutes to the Perlan museum. Also very close (2 min) to the bus stop no 8 which helped us with the tours, it was every time the pick up point for us. A large communal kitchen to cook whatever you want in the main building. Breakfast was okay for the occasion.

The location of the property was terrific, a close walk to everything and not far from Bus Stop 8 for the tours, Airport bus etc. It was a short walk <5mins walk, right near Hallsgrimskirkja Church.

United StatesWe had room 33 which is an exit room and has a super bright exit sign in it which can't be turned off. Bright enough that you think you left a light on in your room. We had to cover it with a towel to sleep. Bathroom was right next door but there was a puddle right in front of the toilet the whole stay. I assume the floor had a dip and it pools there. Breakfast room is a bit crowded but that was probably our fault for waiting until the last hour to go.
Location was awesome, just a block from hallgrimskirkja and a few min walk from the main part of downtown. Breakfast in the morning was great. Beds were comfy.
