How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

N/A - everything was great. Tip: If you want a view from your room, don’t book a budget room. but there are plenty of views from the restaurant, so this isn’t an issue.
Our favorite hotel in Iceland, hands down! The hospitality here is top-notch. We felt completely welcome from the moment we arrived. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere, location, and facilities are perfect. 5 stars!

The sulfur but that's a very small price to pay for the serenity and beauty of Iceland. Good choice to use the natural water. It's our issue to get used to the sulfur, not yours. :).
Loved the location. The staff was so wonderful. The place was clean, fascinating and entertaining. I wanted to view the exploration museum which was once at this hotel. :).

The individual beds were really small. But i had seen those beds in Iceland before. Not the kind of beds we are used to in the US.
The breakfast was perfect. Super complete, and delicious. The hotel has a nice patio with views to the water, and eating there was a treat. The room was very clean and bright, and had black out curtains for the night. And the staff was very helpful. I would stay there again if I had to go back to Husavik.

It was a great stopover. The two hoteliers are very accommodating, and are happy to provide information. The pizza was great. The breakfast was very extensive with many fresh products. We will be happy to come back for our next Iceland trip.

Our rooms window views are blocked by the roof of the bar/restaurant next door.
Great small hotel. The check-in was super easy and staff very nice. We got the only help with luggage taken upstairs by the staff among all hotels/guesthouses in Iceland.

the rooms are not sound proof! Husavik maybe costlier but then the cost is not justified with the kind of facilities available in the room.
Good location, the new management is trying to do their best to accommodate and facilitate the guests.

Nothing to dislike!
Spotlessly clean, well-appointed comfortable rooms with great bathrooms. Incredibly friendly, helpful owners. Excellent position overlooking harbour. Good breakfast. Highly recommended. We look forward to staying again and next time we'll make sure we don't miss dinner and the famous pizzas in the Ya Ya Ding Dong Bar....☺️

A lovely room in a great location made all the better by the superb staff at the Hotel. Always happy to help and were very understanding and kind when we ran into some unexpected medical issues and needed to extend our stay.

Beautiful spot overlooking bay, short drive or walk to harbour,. We loved the hotel library with Icelandic sagas on the shelves . Also the geo pool just down the road.

We had to wait awhile for the check in but we were helped carrying our luggage up to the 2nd floor room. There was a restaurant attached to the motel. The breakfast was okay.

Room was a bit hot, difficult to ventilate due to window locking system. Needs improvement. View from room was poor, booking didn't give options for different rooms with better views.
Breakfast was very good, restaurant location/entourage excellent, pleasant daylight an nice view over the harbour, good atmosphere with light music. Kind people running the place.
