Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceCost does not match the offer.
Great location and nice place but hotel is very over rated. Cost is not justified except by the fact that this is the only place available in the area.

MexicoThe Highland Base is an absolute gem nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Kerlingarfjöll mountains. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning scenery and the serene atmosphere. The hotel itself is a marvel of modern design, seamlessly blending into the natural landscape. Our room was comfortable and stylish, with large windows offering panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness. But what truly elevated our stay from great to exceptional was the incredible service provided by the staff, especially Thomas and Eugenia. Their warm hospitality, genuine helpfulness, and attention to detail made us feel like valued guests throughout our stay. They were always available to answer questions, offer recommendations, and ensure we had everything we needed to enjoy our time at the Highland Base. Whether you're seeking adventure in the highlands or simply a peaceful escape in nature, the Highland Base is an ideal destination. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable Icelandic experience.

United Statesnothing. Everything was well thought out and amazing
This hotel and our adventures here were the highlight of our 10 day Iceland trip. The rooms are great. The meals are fabulous. Buffet style and delicious. So much care goes into each facet of the hotel. The sauna and hot springs also amazing. And the hikes from here are suburb. They also got us a guide for a half day trip way into the highlands . The staff are friendly and care about making this the special place it is. Like no other place in Iceland!

United StatesThis is an amazing location and concept, however, our visit was ruined because the property hosted an ultra race with booming club music all morning. This did not befit and respect the sense of place that the landscape deserved and it was very much a surprise. We had booked a special stay for my wife’s 50th birthday months in advance and we were informed only a few days before our arrival of this unexpected and disruptive event. It was not at all the advertised or bargained for experience but we were halfway around the world. I hope the management takes this to heart and better respects the proper sense of place and guest expectations. The resort is a very nice and promising destination, but this was a poor choice poorly executed by management.

ItalyBe aware that if your room it is not at the top floor from 6.30 it is very noisy. The room was also overheated even with the heat off. There is not enough staff at the reception so the service there is not good. Although they have been helpful to send me my jacket that I forgot to Reykevik. The people working for kitchen and service very nice. Only staff at the reception are too stressed and not very helpful
Amazing location for the beautiful views you can get just a nice walk away. If you are lucky with the weather it is an unforgettable experience. The hot springs of the hotel are lovely. The food amazing. I highly recommend the experience

IcelandThe doors slam loudly. There is only a buffey option at dinnertime, I would have like to order from a menu for the kids because the ate very little and I paid around 12.000 kr for the dinner per person, that was a bit of a waste of money with the kids, one 12 year old and one 16 years old.
The arcitecture was superb, the location is beautiful, everything clean. The food was good.

New ZealandBreakfast was very average for the price of the hotel! Also warm white wine served at the hotpool bar which is bot major but when you are paying super high prices a bit more staff attention to detail would be expected!
Amazing setting and design of room. Very comfortable with a great buffet dinner and hotpools included in the price.

New ZealandThe reception was hidden, they could use some signs to better indicate where it was and there was still construction happening outside the rooms which was obstructing the overall view.
It's just about the only place to stay and relax if you are visiting Kerlingarfjoll and after spending a day on the F roads it's certainly nice to have a comfortable room to sleep in.

IsraelThe buffet dinner was ok, not more than that.
The place is quite upscale. The bed is extremely comfortable, the shower is superb, the views are incredible, but the best part are the staff. They are so nice, gave us good advice on hiking. They even suggested we borrow poles and crampons! Thanks to those we felt much safer on Kerlingarfjöll’s most famous hike.

United KingdomThe hotel wasn’t quite finished, the Bath facilities were not open and there was still some construction and landscaping work on going during our stay. Not the end of the world, but something to bear in mind if you’re thinking of staying in the near future. All of the main hotel accommodation was finished and very nice!
What a stunning location! It’s an adventure in itself to reach the hotel. Very remote, and you need a 4x4 to reach it as the road is pretty challenging, even in the summer! It looks stunning with the mountainous landscape behind it. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Very personable and made the stay feel special. Food was buffet only (understandably!) - very delicious and excellent options for all dietary requirements. Room was wonderfully decorated and comfortable - the bathroom in particular was gorgeous!

United Arab EmiratesTerrible... The hotel subtly steals from you. They don't inform you that you can't get there in a conventional car (it's a very bad dirt road) and since you've already paid, they just tell you that it's not their problem.
Nothing, it is located in a place without a road and we could not get there.
