Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Canada1. There is no elevator. I understood there was an old biscuit factory, but the hostel can be used by international visitors. I felt bad when I saw elderly tourists with big backpacks. 2. It was hard to open the door. I met another visitor who stay in other room was also struggled to open after tapping her key card.
1. All atmosphere was cool. 2. When I accidentally left my key card in the room, the receptionist let me use the second one for free.

CanadaIt smelled of mold, it was messy and filthy. There weren’t enough lockers for everyone in the room, people peed with the doors open, and overall it was a disgusting place.

United KingdomPerhaps the restroom as there is no threshold that could prevent the water from splashing or flowing to the whole floor but you might end up have ti walk on the dirty water after shower. Bring your own flip flops!! (Or you could use the public shower)
Overall it’s all good. I have nothing to complain about. Tho there’s construction going on but it’s not really affecting the travellers. The lobby has been vibrant.

United StatesI stayed at a 4 bed mixed room (301). Highly recommend this room. Amazing view. I feel like Jane Austen traveling in Iceland. (I travelled here 10 years ago. Was in a room with more beds than 4, maybe 8 or 10 I can't remember. The experience was okay, but not as dazzling as the one I had this time. So my recommendation -- choose a small room with less beds, and with luck you have a lovely view, too. ) I want to thank the sir at reception who has such good taste to put me in 301. Also there's a guy from France who stayed in my room, bed 4, who encouraged me to do self-driving saying it's completely safe. I want to thank him and let him know I came back from the self-drive very happy! (just in case he saw this post).

Germany…but you should tell people upfront (!) that they will stay on a construction place…it wasnt that bad after all but you tell the people after they booked that you are sorry for the inconvenience…well dont be sorry: you are investing money in a bigger hotel thats the real estate game…i dont blame you for that just let your guests know before!
hey eveything looks nice and the bar is cool and that..

SpainThis was by far the worst hostel experience I had in Iceland. There was no hot water so I couldn't take a shower. There was no parking at the establishment, it was street parking, which was very misleading. The kitchen could have been cleaner. Honestly, I wasn't expecting the bar with live music to be so crazy. If you're looking for a calm place, this is NOT the place to stay.
It's a very funky and modern hostel. If you're looking for a place to party and to meet people, this is definetely the spot. Very centrally located in the middle of Reykjavík. It felt safe beause to access each floor you had to use your room key. The morning cleaning staff was friendly.

PolandStaff was really nice, toilets and showers very comfortable and clean, and what surprised me, they where almost never busy. I liked the really cozy furniture on the corridors where you can rest after long day. But ... this 42 people room made me almost impossible to sleep, because I Had to deal with really loud snoring. If you are introvert and prefer silence, better take smaller room. Hostel is perfectly situated, IT is really close to the city center, when you look though the windows , you will get stunning view on the ocean.

United StatesThe hostel looks terrible. No water early in the morning.
Location was good, the hostel was old, every thing was old and worn out. The main door was old and horrible. We had an early flight, we got up early 4 AM, there was no water. We felt terrible.

IrelandThe breakfast team were late but that was just one morning. With the construction work going on, the price could have been lowered.
It's always a great place for people to meet, eat and be sociable. Great food and service is good.

DenmarkThe bunks shake a lot, when the other person moves. The metal lockers also make a lot of noise when people get up in the morning/night. There was a lot of construction going on, which made it impossible to just have a chill day at the hostel, and I think that should have given a reduction in price. There is a lot of noise from the bar at night as well! I was a bit surprised how little the guy in the reception knew about Iceland and Reykjavik. I think it would be a good investment to send the receptionists on the different tours so they know what there is to experience on Iceland and encourage them to use the city.
It was nice that there was a bar/restaurant and the kitchen area which was a great opportunity to meet people and hang out after a day of exploring. There are plenty of bathrooms. Very friendly cleaning staff.
