Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LithuaniaIt was to loudly in the hotel, cause under the hotel was night club/ bar. In the room no earplugs ( stuff was sending messages that there is some). TV not working properly (no apps for Netflix, Youtube, Amazon/Prime)
Location was perfect in the heart of the Reykjavik, a lot of shops and pubs around the hotel.

No key all done via key codes was ace as can't loose a key!! Reykjavik was brilliant, so much to do! Will be back. Also as solo traveller was so safe and easy to get around. Awesome country

United KingdomThe only issue we experienced was we used the luggage storage on our last day, we obviously checked out before 11 which is when check out finishes. However because we had then checked out when we went back for our bags at 1 our codes to get in didn’t work anymore. So we had to ring the reception however they were extremely helpful and gave us another code to enter and get our stuff.
The property was in an amazing location, very central. The check in and check out process was extremely easy and straightforward, the link to the website contained every bit of information needed for the stay with step by step instruction which were so easy to follow. We really enjoyed our stay here.

LithuaniaThe windows of the room face the street where a noisy bar (or other gathering place) is located. It was difficult to sleep with the window open, and as it's not a large room, fresh air during nighttime was really important. And I'm not talking about a Friday night or a weekend. We stayed Monday-Thursday.
The biggest advantages of this venue for us were its location - just a few minutes' walk to the city centre, the venue of the conference we were attending during our stay, and autonomy - the ability to to check-in and check-out autonomously.

United KingdomBreakfast not included in price and not available in the building. If you’re heading out early, be aware there are no early opening food places other than the hotel up the road with a €30 continental breakfast. No staff situated at the property itself, possibly a slight inconvenience.
Centrally located with lots of places to eat and shop. Luggage store provided, so even though we couldn’t check in until 3:00, clear instructions and a door code allowed us to store our luggage until then.

United KingdomI really don't care for the absence of reception staff. It was unpleasant. Yes, I found it ok to access my room etc but it's not all about pure function. The anonymity felt a bit bleak and cold. And less secure (as a woman travelling alone).
I stayed on the top floor. The view from the big windows was gorgeous. The room was a good size, the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was great (fab shower!). Loved the coffee machine and appreciated the fridge.

SwedenThe reason it doesn’t get full score is the standard/quality of the room, pictures look way better than reality (one lamp in the bathroom not working, luckily didn’t affect the lighting that much. The headboard was made of leather I think and it started to flake resulting in small black dots on the sheet - the room is simply quite worn out). We realiezd the hotel was made of two divisions, one older which we lived in and then one newer and all the good pictures seemed to be from there. However, I wasn’t completely surprised about the worn out rooms since I did see some of the pictures that others put out, but then again, it is still not the cheapest so I think the price should be lowered for this type of standard room. Also I can confirm what many others have written here about sound isolation - there is simply none. There is a restaurant right out front of the room and it is loud live music until 11 pm. But then again, this is informed about in the hotel info since you also get earplugs. I had no problem sleeping but my husband did🤭 Bed was ok but the pillows too soft (!!) would have needed like three of them to be able to watch tv comfortably (we ended up using the blankets as neck support). There was a garbage bin outside the elevator on the entrance floor and it was overfilled, starting to smell but still it was not emptied, not even when the cleaning personnel had been there. Didn’t like the strong perfume they spray after cleaning the room. Also wasn’t happy to come back to open window. First I thought it was just forgotten but then the second cleaning it was open again. It is winter so I didn’t appreciate coming back to a cold room.
What we liked the most about this hotel was the location, walking distance to everything, very good location! I liked that the personnel answered quickly on my requests of room cleaning, considering that it is a self service hotel this was very much appreciated. I asked for a kettle in advance and I got two😄 I liked that you have like a mini kitchen with fridge and kettle so we could have our own cozy breakfasts.

IrelandOne thing to note is that the hotel operates with a fully automated check-in system, which was very smooth and efficient. We received all the necessary instructions beforehand, and accessing our room was hassle-free. However, there is no reception, so if you prefer having staff available for questions or recommendations, this could be a downside. Personally, it wasn’t an issue for me, as everything was well-organized, and we didn’t run into any problems.
I recently stayed at Midtown Hotel in Iceland on a couple’s trip, and we had a fantastic experience. The hotel is incredibly well-located, right in the city center, within walking distance of many major attractions. Whether you want to explore iconic landmarks, visit museums, or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere of Reykjavik, everything is just a short stroll away. Additionally, the main bus station is about a 20-minute walk, making it convenient for airport transfers and excursions. There are also plenty of great restaurants nearby, so finding a good meal was never an issue. Our room was modern, clean, and comfortable—perfect for a relaxing stay after long days of exploring. The amenities were great, and everything was well-maintained. Despite being in a central location, the hotel was quiet, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Overall, I highly recommend Midtown Hotel for travelers looking for a convenient, comfortable, and well-located place to stay in Reykjavik. It was an excellent choice for our trip, and I would definitely stay here again!
