Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a lot of music in the night but it turnt off as described at 11pm as it’s in the live music bar on the terrace. Also sink was an awkward shape and couldn’t wash without making a mess
Was a really comfortable bed and the cot bed provided came with a mini duvet and pillow - was great and my baby slept perfectly! Was a good location, clean facilities and lots of amenities in the room

IcelandIt's self check in which is fine if it works but the self check in here does not work. I was staying here because of an event and I had to get ready for it but we never got the code or room number. The lobby was FILLED with people having the exact same problem. I went through all emails from the hotel very thoroughly and there was nothing so I called the hotel number and a woman answered and I told her I hadn't gotten a room number or code and she kept saying that they did send it and I did get it and she was extremely rude!! She then says ''oh I see, we didn't send it because you haven't showed us your ID'' so I ask how they want me to show my ID when there is nobody at the hotel and so she becomes furious and says they sent a form to show the ID - I did in fact not get a form but she didn't believe it but said she would send it again and hung up. I wait 15 minutes in the lobby, getting extremely late for the event and call again because I did not get a form so I call again and the same woman responds and I ask her to send the form again because I'm not getting it - The anger and attitude this woman had was INSANE, I have never experienced customer service this bad - I didn't get the form once again, call again, another woman responds and then finally I get the form, wait another 20 minutes for the room number and code, call again and then finally get it! I was really late to the event and both the women I talked to on the phone were so incredibly rude from the get go even though I was super patient, polite and nice the entire time. I stayed at Grand hotel the next night for a lower price even and it was exceptional.
The room was way bigger than I expected and just looked really good. The location is good aswell.

United KingdomIt was difficult to get into the building even though we were given codes - they didn’t seem to work at all, we had to be let in both times. Didn’t see any staff so can’t comment on staff. Pillows were very flat, could have done with 2 of them. The shower pressure wasn’t good at all, was more like a trickle of water. Tv only had 2 channels working too so not a lot of variety
Excellent location, lovely and clean rooms with comfy beds. Value for money was fairly good and the mattress was very comfortable

Such a great location, right in the middle of the city! A close walk to Hallgrímskirkja & the number 6 bus from the airport! Awesome staff, we had a few issues , we called the hotel & our issues were immediately resolved. After booking make sure you check your email for information on checking into the hotel. This is a virtual checkin. The hotel sends access codes to enter the premises & to enter your room. There wasn’t any staff on the premises.

CanadaThe entrance door code did not always work and was loose off the wall. The first code did not work, only the backup code. The instructions for getting in where not great. The room door code pad was also hard to figure out. Also parking is expensive.
It was not too expensive for Iceland. Nice place comfortable.

SwitzerlandCouldn’t find the hotel first since there was no exact address delivered with the booking. Not a fan of impersonal self check-in and -out, after all the hospitality industry needs people to deliver service, and the guests should honor that by paying that difference.

United StatesThe room was cramped and very Spartan. Very little counter space, and loud on Saturday night. ( They did warn us of this and supplied earplugs.)
Location was perfect. Easy walking distance to most everything, and easy to access busses, once one figures out how they work. There is also a laundromat next door, which was great for weary travelers. I loved the duvets on the bed.

GibraltarThat we had to go to another hotel for breakfast. Despite only being a few minutes walk it would have been nice to have the breakfast at Midtown Hotel. The selection at the breakfast bar could have been better and also better organized. Staff training is required. We had an issue the last evening [Friday] with four young guys roaming around making noise and kicking the doors. We are not sure how they got in or if they were actual guests. As there is no staff at the hotel the police had to be notified. Everything did calm down.
The location was perfect. Right down town with easy access to the pedestrianized area. At the hotel was not manned it was good that there was a telephone by the entrance to contact a person when we had any requirements

United KingdomDepending on the room you book the street can be a little noisy if you are looking to go to bed early there is a live music in the bar behind the accommodation. This wouldn't stop me booking this hotel again, we stayed there three separate nights over a one week period.
The location is amazing, easy walk to all main sites and check in to your room is effortless with left luggage also. Great place to start or end your trip to Iceland.
