How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Loud music until 1:45am. It was a novelty the first night. Then it got old quickly.

The room was next to a bar that played rock music on full blast for half the night.
It's conveniently located and the room was very clean.

The room that we got was pretty small, but ok for 1 night. Not all rooms have "a view".
The hotel was stylish, clean, well maintained. Bed was very comfortable.

i didnt like that the noise from the bar (playing live band ) was too loud .. good thing that they stopped at 11..but the crowd after the event just lingered in the streets and they were talking so loud ...they finally dispersed though...but other wise it was peaceful after that
it was spacios!...loved that! and it had a mini kitchen if i wanted to heat or cook something, but i didnt though becasue we were so close to restaurants and drinking places.

The person on Reception was a bit vague. Difficult to get clear information from them.
Centrally located on one of the main shopping streets in Reykjavik so easy to walk everywhere.

The sauna was not working during our stay (although we probably would not have used it). Otherwise, we had no complaints.
1. The location is excellent. Laugavegur is one of the more interesting streets in Reykjavik, full of gift shops, bars, restaurants, and cafes. Room with a View is in the middle of the pedestrian section of the street. The #6 and #14 bus stops, where tourist excursions and airport transportation is accessible, are each about 5 minutes away by foot. Hallgrimskirkja also is about 5 minutes away. 2. The facilities are nice. Rooms have a Scandinavian simplicity, but are clean and spacious enough. Breakfast is in an adjacent bookstore/bar/cafe with an amazing atmosphere and occasional live music (although there was peace and quiet in our hotel room). Also 24/7 coffee and tea, in the lobby, at no extra cost, is a nice bonus.

Everything was fine. Excellent location, very central. Nice spacious room. A little noisy from the bar at the street. Beautiful wet sauna and Jacuzzi.

no kettle in room. no coffee or tea or even hot water available in common area as the coffee/hot water machine was out of order.

the breakfast was inadequate. and should be included in the room price because it was hardly worth the money they charged. room was very hit and hard to locate.

Breakfast is extra charge but the breakfast was not very good and very very basic not much variety.
We stayed here for 3 nights. Great location, clean bathroom and shower, housekeeping clean our room every day, beds are comfortable. Coffee machine and water machine by the loby is available.

Beakfast was very basic, had a better one in a 3 stars hotel.

We had a suite in the second floor so we heard quite a bit of street noise, people out partying. would probably be a big issue on a weekend. Also limited parking nearby, could park free from 6 pm to 9 am and just paid a bit for the pay spots for short time out of that window.
Great location near everything. Beds were comfy, and nobody of the 4 of us had to sleep on a sofa bed! Nice kitchenette. Great cappuccino machine in lobby.

our room was next to the bar, so with 2 kids it was way too noisy for us as there was a band playing the night we were there. but thanks to the jet lag we could fall asleep eventually. besides that we loved our stay.

The room is good. But do not choose second floor if you can. Second floor can be very noisy because you can hear everything from the pub. Elsewhere all good.
