Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceThe double bed rooms were a little bit small and we couldn’t open comfortably our suitcases.
The common spaces were nice and friendly to socialise. The kitchen was fully equipped. The beds were comfortable.

United KingdomThe kitchen was very busy at meal times. Just be prepared to plan simple meals that don't take much time to prepare. Or aim to prepare them outside of the main rush.
The bunks are very comfortable and the showers are excellent. There is a nice dining area and breakout spaces for you to relax with friends and eat meals. The place was quite at nighttime as the rooms were seperate from the kitchen and dining area.

SingaporeOur food got stolen continuously for two days, we were not able to investigate further as there’s no CCTV in the kitchen, therefore the thieves were very daring to steal. Otherwise I’ve gotten my laundry done in the hostel but my puffer jacket got washed and not drying up completely, I couldn’t wear it for few days and all our clothes that washed were smelly and we need to hand wash again after.
The location is really nice and we managed to see northern light right in front of the hostel. A lot of parking lots available. Design of the hostel is very fashionable and comfortable. Towel was changed daily as well as the shampoo and conditioner are smelling so good!

TurkeyThe dorm room is very small. We stayed in 8 person dorm room. I dont have a problem with staying with other people but there is not any space in the room besides beds. Did not even have the space to open up my luggage in the room and it was veri hard to manage my stuff during stay. Also the dorm room doors does not have locks which is weird. You can just barge into any room. I did not feel unsafe but locked doors would have been better.
Location is great general atmosphere is good as well

TaiwanA HELL PLACE! 1. Super tiny bunk bed, especially they give you the upper bed, you will hit your head easily and it is fu*king dangerous to climb. Like you sleep in the jail. 2. Unfriendly and inpatient reception people. My room’s light is so dark, and i fell down from the upper deck. They didn’t provide any help at all. 3. Poor location. In the middle of nowhere.

HungaryWe used the Booking filtering system, we need: - minimum one or two rooms!!!! - a bathroom in the room. This where basic!! The Barn has NO ROOM! This is a Hostel. I think very expencive for 4 bed more than 200 EUR. 4 beds and the room we should have to share with strangers. No place for the packagings, even the shoes. We just realized this when we arrived, and no chance for refound! So I hand to pay even we did not slept there. Very unpolite business politics. Need to have more finetuning the application filtering system do not let to pop up this kind of acomodation if Someone would like to find separate room!

United Kingdom- someone was sleeping in my assigned bed when I checked in. I was moved to a different room with two more beds (4 bed room to 6 bed room) - there was a person snoring very loudly so I could not sleep all night. While I understand shared dorms have that issue, I had booked a 4-bed room to minimise it and I got a 6-bed. - the knives in the kitchen were dull
- the kitchen was open 24/7 and it was well stocked in terms of pots, pans, cutlery, utensils - the bed was comfortable - the employees were helpful and moved us to a different bed because ours was being used by someone else

JapanThe kitchen is big and well-equipped with two sinks, two microwaves, two stoves, a kettle, a coffee dripper, etc., but it was full house and overcrowded when we were trying to heat up our dinner. Luckily the next morning, the tour group left and we enjoyed the cozy kitchen by ourselves.
Very close to the Reynisfjara Beach, good for our second attempt the next morning because first attempt failed due to strong wind and waves in the evening. Staffs are very friendly and they have a bar inside. Double bed in the 6-bed dormitory is comfortable with a wall light, a plug and a little space to keep your stuffs. Each guest in the dormitory has their own rack to put luggage as well. Hair shampoo, hair conditioner, towel are provided.

CanadaStaffs were rude when we check in and also check out. It is a popular hostel/hotel due to its design and location which make the staffs less friendly and welcoming. The barn was very crowded during our stay. Washroom and the sink area were very dirty, shower rooms don’t have a curtain to separate the dry and wet area. They should have staffs to clean the washroom and sink every few hours due to its business but they didn’t. Kitchen were crowded around 5-8 as that’s when everyone started heading back to their hotel/hostel. The sink was clogged and some people don’t clean up after themselves. They do not have staffs to clean them until very late night around 1 am. I have stayed five other hostels that weren’t as stylish as the barn’s interior design but the quality of the stay were much much much better. So if you want to stay near black sand beach and experience staying in nice black interior design hotel/hostel, the barn is good. If you’re looking for clean, hygienic , less crowded hostel/hotel, friendly staff, good facilities , look somewhere else.
The barn is very close to black sand beach and very stylish.
