description on booking is not clear, we booked for a four beds room but there was actually 4 king size beds which means that there were 8 people in a basically not too big room. likely we could upgrade to a private suite for a very reasonable price!

Unfortunately the drains didn’t unblock in the showers or sinks. The kitchen was extremely busy which felt quite off putting.

Very loud, squeaky door in our hostel meant that we were woken up multiple times during the night and it was impossible to sleep in the morning (with people going in and out regularly).

Modern hotel in a great location. Staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Bed in hostel was comfortable and linen provided was helpful.

Room with 6 bed but host 12 people in a room which is pretty small and has not enough room for everyone's stuff. There are very few lockers and they got quickly taken by other guests (even though we got there before dinner time). The bathroom/shower area are in front of the main hall and reception so there's not much privacy.

Beautiful location, 5 minutes from Reynisfjara Beach; very modern and new. Kitchen is good.

Despite me feeling the cold, this room was stiflingly hot with underfloor heating, a radiator and a fan heater all chucking out heat. we turned the latter two off but couldn’t adjust the underfloor heating. We tried to have the window open but the wind made the blind flap too much. Outside lights were turned on around 11pm and shone right into the room, which had blackout blinds on the windows but nothing on the opaque glass door! we did ask if the lights could be turned off but all they managed was to throw a towel over them. All led to us not getting very much sleep unfortunately.

The heat in the room was too warm in the night. We thought that we are 6 persons per room according to the photo but in fact we were 12 persons per room.

Receptionist can be a bit more friendlier. Common kitchen is too small for all the hostel guests, especially in the evening it's difficult to find the place to cook and have dinner.

Location of the hostel is good. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

I was charged a $25 cleaning fee.. user error on my part I guess. but I booked a 4 bed dorm for my boyfriend and I. when we got to the room 2 beds were already occupied, we saw our number and it was 2 empty beds. come to find only one bed was ours, but the number’s sticker had been ripped off the bottom bunk. how was I suppose to know that was another bed when the number not there! we had assumed the whole bunk top and bottom was our number.. not cool to be charged that much just to change a bed over, literally took the girl 5 minutes to do the change also being on the top bunk was extremely hot!!! the heat rises so that sucked too

If you are renting bed in dorm room, you expect to have single bed, not double bed. That was a huge surprise. In the shower, there was no hot water and the ventilation in the showers were really strong, and we felt cold while showering.

Overall, it was a very bad experience. We arrived pretty cold on a January night and went straight to shower and there was not hot water AT ALL. I think the main thing a hostel should provide is hot water specially in such a cold country. When telling that to the staff, they were 'surprised' but not sorry for you, pretty disappointing the situation. Then I decided to read the reviews and I read quite a few saying the same, no hot water ... When you book the rooms, it says 6 bed room but then there are actually 12 people there in a suuuuch a small room. It was hard to breathe. There was no space to leave your stuff. There are no lockers so if you have cameras, passport, etc, you only have a small locker outside the rooms but forget about your luggage/bag. They may be 'booked' out as well. Small kitchen, always full and impossible to have a seat. ** I'd also like to add that there's no way to shower without washing your hair. If you stay 3 days, you aren't going to wash your hair 3 times ??? specially on winter ... for what a beautiful shower if it is the least practical things I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I would not recommend it. Not worth the price at all.

The design was beautiful and I think that's the reason why people decides to go here and not somewhere else but once you are there you see that it's 0 practical, 0 comfortable, it just looks good.

VERY rowdy crowd late into the night on a Tuesday. We had a private room but it was loud all night and sounded like furniture was being moved the whole time. Our heater did not work very well either and was quite chilly.

The kitchen was not particularly clean and too small for the number of guests. Cooking at dinner time is very difficult because of it. The bunks had no space to store items in your compartment so having the top bunk makes it quite difficult to take a water/phone... with you. You can only store it next to your matress. The rooms are quite loud but that's the guests fault. People seem to be unable to use door handles.

The cheapest option in the area by far and was just as described. The location is great, super close to the black beach. The bar area is nice and pretty. Drinks were expensive, but the bar area pretty and the bar keeper very friendly.

Large loud group of very loud Italians were occupying the kitchen at all times an being very loud until late hours. Showers were only ice cold or very chilly. Too little sanitary facilities for the amount on guests.

There were only two showers for the entire floor.

The beds were comfortable. The room was very dark which made it easy to sleep, this is not common in hotels! Nice bar/lounge area, communal kitchen was also fully equipped. Although the bathrooms were shared per floor, the showers were in separate rooms with plenty of space to change, which we appreciated.

Lukewarm water at some point but mostly icy cold, high ceiling so the room takes forever to get to a minimum of 19°C, toilet bowl cleaned superficially

There was too little space in the hostel rooms, and we couldn't find any space to put our luggage. The room wasn't well ventilated and there was a really bad socks smell due to one of the other guests sharing our space.

Nice facade with not so great experience underneath. Unfriendly staff that didn't allow us to make changes in our reservation because we were honest. It would be better to lie to them that we haven't made reservation in advance. Not so clean and gross showers, had to switch cabin 3 times due to lack of hot water in some, overcrowded common areas are also not the memory we can really go back to with joy. If there is any other option in similar budget nearby I would definitely give it a try. Forgettable experience

there was not hot water in the evening and not even the morning (100% unacceptable when you pay the same price of an hotel with private bathroom, plus having hot water is the minimum of a stay). a recurrent problem that unfortunately the hostel doesn’t not solve and hope for the costumers patient… the room was too small and the bed was close to the door what make us ear all the noises from the other guests, including the flushing of the common toilet or the door that separates the rooms from the kitchen (if you catch a messy group of other costumers, the kitchen it’s too small and tend to be smelly). it was really a shame these details made the stay I had the most expectations the worst of all. These are details that the hostel can easily improve, hope they do.
