The location is not exactly in Vik, but its not a big issue. For us, since the weather that day was not great, we had to get dinner in Vik late night and drive up to the hostel while it was raining cats and dogs. Again, no biggie. The place is lovely.

It was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Rooms were clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. The bathrooms were abundant and very clean. The common areas were lively and super comfortable. The vibe in general was of safety, comfort and youth.

Felt like I was staying at a 5 star ski lodge! Best hostel I’ve ever stayed at and very affordable by Icelandic standards! Will recommend to everyone I know who comes here. Loved the double bed bunk. Really comfortable mattresses and the kitchen was great, had everything and was really clean and tidy. Amazing showers. Can’t believe how nice this place was! Also saw an incredible show of the auroras so that helped the experience become a 10

Not much to improve on, was good value for money

Great place to stay , albeit for a single night. We stayed as part of our trip around Iceland's ring road. The shared kitchen was very clean and had everything we needed to store and cook food during our stay. The shared bathrooms were a good size and very clean.

Hands down the best place where I stayed at. Calling it hostel is reductive because it looks more like a 4 stars hotel. - facilities are top notch: very big, modern and equipped kitchen, modern toilets and showers. - Friendly staff - Comfortable beds - Everything was so clean - Amazing location and view If you want a gem during your stay in Iceland go to The Barn.

Staff were very friendly and polite, the common areas, bathrooms, showers, and bedrooms were super clean. I liked the different flavored waters they had at the front. I didn’t use the communal kitchen but was impressed by it.

the hostel uses strong scented cleaning products and does a lot of cleaning, so it was very strong for someone sensitive to fragrances.

Best hostel I've stayed at! the beds were double beds instead of twins which was great for a couple. there was a full kitchen for guests which had lots of tools and utensils. there were a lot of showers and bathrooms so it wasn't a fight to get one as there were a lot of people staying there. There was bar that was open until midnight that served finger food. the hostel also supplied towels. It was a great location right near the black sand beach and enough outside of the Vìk that we were able to see the northern lights!

Unfortunately, the rooms are very small (stayed in 4 double bed room - 8 people), which made it difficult with the luggage. Also, the kitchen and dining area is rather small so that not everyone could find a free table to eat in the morning.

The room was super small (4 double sized beds) and there was a duvet as it was a couple bed, so maybe it's not for everyone if you have a problem sharing. Also a bit further from Vik (8 minutes by car),but otherwise nice

The beds are comfortable and have nice privacy curtains which means the beds are like a capsule hotel. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are extremely modern and well-maintained. The receptionist was helpful, and we enjoyed our stay.

The shower got water everywhere despite our best efforts. A space heater was provided which helped immensely but the room was quite chilly without it.

We really enjoyed our experience at The Barn. It is remote enough and just overlooking the water to see Northern Lights but close enough to Vik for amenities/grocery store etc. The room was spacious and comfortable. We appreciated the blinds and the how quiet the property was. We liked having a mini fridge and kettle. It was nice to be able to go into the main building for a drink too.
