Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyWe had a wonderful stay at this hostel! The facility is impeccably clean and well-equipped, making it a perfect base for seeing the Northern Lights. The shared kitchen is fully stocked, allowing for easy meal preparation. A special mention goes to the common area, which feels like a friend's home—super cozy and spacious. It’s a great place to relax and connect with fellow travelers. The context, history, and artistic culture of the hostel are truly fascinating. Although we didn’t get a chance to attend any events, we thoroughly enjoyed playing games in the common room and meeting new people. When a small issue arose, the staff resolved it quickly and efficiently. The ladies running the hostel are absolutely lovely and provided excellent recommendations for nearby attractions. We highly recommend this hostel! Maximum rating! 🌟

CanadaThe only thing that got me was that there was no one there to enforce common space guidelines. One of the last nights we were there, we had planned to make dinner to use up the rest of our food, however, a large group of Italians took over the entire kitchen to have a family meal. They did NOT get the hint to leave when several people kept bumping into them to try and get to the fridge. There are signs in a few different places that mentioned to "please eat in the common room, so that the kitchen didn't get too crowded," which i thought was amazing. But, this group brought chairs from different rooms just so sit around the big table and hang out and eat. There were a group of 3 that came in just before the posted hours of closing for the kitchen usage, myself and my partner, as well as another couple, all waiting to use the kitchen. We ended up eating way past 10 pm, which i felt terrible about in case I kept someone up. Anyway, that was really the only thing that was negative about the experience. It's not the staff's fault.
Loved the vibe of this place, the cleanliness, and the large kitchen. I like that it's also the community culture center for the town, so there was a musical performance on the Friday we were there, and lots of art everywhere! The bathrooms were private and clean and we'll maintained. The common space to hang out was fantastic and had so much space. There was also a bar with an honour system in place if there was no one there to take your money.

SwitzerlandGood value for money for one night stop over on a roadtrip. I didn't explore the area much as we had bad weather. I can imagine when there's more going on it's more lively.
I booked it as it looked like a fun and funky place to stay. I reserved the private room with bathroom, it was all very clean. It was winter and a Tuesday so there was no live show or much action, but the staff were super friendly.

SwitzerlandOur room was right next to the kitchen, which was rather noisy (especially in the morning).
The kitchen had everything I needed and the option to do laundry was nice (laundry could not be done later in the evening/at night).

GermanyThe quality of the stay depends heavily on who of the staff has the shift on your date of stay. We spend 4 nights in total and they were definitely an up and down. The worst nights where the ones where the owner was not there: The “live music” was enormously loud, making it hard to spend time at all in the common room, while the karaoke did not stop at 23:00 or even midnight, but continued until after 1, making it hard to sleep. Both of the two bathroom sinks avalaible for the dorms were broken for a whole day and the solution was an “out of order sign”, while the staff was enjoying karaoke. To my surprise, the next day, when the owner was back on shift, all problems were fixed and he actually played very nice live music, while not forcing it on anyone. So all in all, it is a very nice place when the owner is there, while being significantly worse when people run it, that care more about their self-presentation than the hostel itself. My review score represents the days WITH the owner.
It’s a really really great place to stay! Great common room, super friendly owner and great concept. We saw a great short Theater performance and listened to some nice live music. The location is also perfect for spending a few days on Snæfellsnes.

United StatesThe only issue we really ran into was that the WiFi connection at the hostel didn't reach to our room. We really counting on having WiFi at every place we were spending the night, and that was actually one of the factors in booking, so that was a bit of a let down.
Comfortable stay. We booked a private room here, and it was clean, comfortable, and a good value. There was lots of interesting artwork and a cool vibe overall.

SwitzerlandMost cosy place I can think of to stay in the area. Great atmosphere in a warm and colorful house. The staff is wonderful an it felt like coming home all the time. Lots of music (live/out of box/or karaoke) makes it an unforgetable experience. I will definately return, soon.

United StatesWe had a private bathroom, but the shower did not get hot (though it did get lukewarm, so it was useable). This was a minor issue, not a major one.
This was a very nice and comfortable place to stay on our last day of an 18-day trip in Iceland. While my wife and I packed for the return, my kids could hang out, play the games, and sit around and read.

SpainThe rooms and the baths were rather ascetic. That’s fine for one night, no more.
The hostel has comfortable location close to the road along the peninsula. The community area is cozy and nice to hang out. In the evenings there are different entertaining programs (karaoke, cinema, games). As for me looks like a good option for friends travelling together and ready for active evenings. The stuff was very friendly and nice.

BelgiumThe bathroom was heavily smelling and it looked like it was not only ours, but the whole side. It did not look like super clean (except the bathroom which was impeccable).
The staff is amazing and the whole concept is great. The main room is very cosy and you can feel the warmth of the place, and Smari is a very nice guy. It does look a little bit like a squat and I love this, but it might not be everyone cup of tea.

The Freezer is extraordinary. The large living room has a lot of nice couches and is very cozy. The kitchen has everything you need. Rooms are clean, same with the bathrooms. The stuff is brillant, especially at Karaoke evening. That was really fun!
