Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomReally nice hostel, they also have an amazing boot dryer which was very popular and much appreciated as my boots were soaked when I arrived. They provide tea and coffee and a great breakfast in the morning. The hostel felt very homely and enjoyed hanging out with the other guests. It's a bit of a walk down the hill (and back up) to the main town but if you're in a car really easy to find and plenty of parking.

SpainHostel for aprox 50 people with just 2 showers (the third one was being reformed) and 4 WC (2 of them with the showers and 1 without door). They leave you the sheets to make your own bed. Very expensive for the services.

SloveniaHouse accepts too many guests. In the morning is too crowded so you can't really enjoy your breakfast. House has only one working shower so it gets bussy again. Our room was beside the bathroom (with the shower) so we could hear each and every guest using it. Because there is so many people in one house it gets very loude and disturbing. So i was happy to have ear plugs with me.
The highlight of our trip were their dogs. They love cuddling and playing with you.

Everything! We stayed 2 nights in our exploring of South Iceland. We were so cozy and comfortable in one of the cottages. Our children loved saying hello to the chickens and dogs. Breakfast was truly great with the warm homemade bread and waffles.

LithuaniaIt's a dorm, so you can expect to hear what's happening in the other rooms. :D We got a room in attic so you can feel the humidity, beds weren't the comfiest ones and you needed to make your bed by yourself.
Very nice host, amazing breakfast, good and convenient location!

PolandThe place was fully booked so two bathrooms were not enough for the entire house of people. We had to wait hours to take a shower. The bed wasn’t comfortable at all, and very noisy, thin walls made us hear all sounds from surrounding rooms. The breakfast wasn’t as good as the offers says. Bunch of products were finished when we get there, and the breakfast room is tiny and too crowded. The price of the accommodation was too high as for such poor quality.
The property is nicely located in the Vik town close to the Black Beach, up on the hill. This is animals friendly place and the studf is very friendly.

IndiaVery few bathrooms, some of which were unclean. Rooms in the basement which were quite smelly with everyone drying their clothing there (tip for the hostel: invest in some room where people can hang their wet clothes on a clothesline or something...every surface on the floor of our room was covered in wet clothing). Additionally creaky and very narrow bunks. The door also kept rattling in the night which was an annoying noise to hear constantly. Kitchen was pretty nasty with only dirty sponges, lots of food trash, and dish clothes that were totally wet and were dropped on the floor and then hung up again. Overall, this seems like a hostel that would worth maximally 15 Euros a night (not 50 Euros per *Bed*). I personally regretted staying here and wished I would have paid a little extra money for a place that I would have enjoyed staying at!
While I didn't eat the breakfast it looked like there were a lot of different options. Also there is a nice view, however most things in Vik are quite a walk away and along a relatively busy road

Canada- beds were not comfortable and we had to make and strip them ourselves - there were not enough bathrooms for the number of people there - there were tons of people in the common area and at breakfast who were both loud and made us concerned about Covid - not enough seating at breakfast or enough room - our most expensive and least pleasant stay on the trip
- breakfast was good - they have dogs and the owner that we met was nice

United StatesOn our upper floor there was only one joint toilet/shower room for like 5 rooms (2 of which were multi-bed). There was another bathroom on the lowest floor, but you better took your shower in the middle of the day, and timed your toilet needs. It seems though that the hostel is working on it and building more showers and toilets. That will be an investment well spent!! Kitchen is very basic and could use a few more pots, drainers, utensils beyond the very basic.
It's a very charming house, with dogs and chickens outside. The location is perfect - awesome views of the village, coast and mountains. It's easy to find and there is a nice 'back path' through the meadows to walk to the village. The breakfast is AMAZING. Definitely didn't expect anything like that in a hostel - waffles with homemade jam and whipped cream, ham, cheese, salmon, choice of breads. That was really a highlight. Rooms are functional, quiet, and ours had a nice view into nature. There is plenty of parking outside, and nice seating benches and tables if you prefer to have a picnic outside. For a hostel, the price feels rather steep for a double room, but it's a really nice place.
