Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThe hotel is located in a tiny village, but for those who value being in nature is perfect. The other reason I loved it, as the owner is a fan of auroras and he his friend made us profi photos of us, when the aurora finally appeared. it was amazing!!!!

United KingdomStaff a little inexperienced. Restaurant menu not great and no real explanation of the chefs specials. I think overall the room was a little overpriced compared to other hotels in the area.
Amazing size room and very warm and comfortable. We saw the northern lights by chance which was amazing.

JapanDifficult to say - nothing too bad was nothing too positive. I might try another hotel in the future.
Location was good. The room and facility were not as much as expected - simply normal and nothing special. The bath was closed during winter.

United KingdomA kettle in the room would be nice, although coffee is available 24 hrs a day in reception 😀
We were greeted with a warm welcome on arrival. Our room was comfortable, clean and cosy. The breakfast buffet was excellent including fresh homemade bread. Hot tub clean and pleasant to use, even on a damp November day. Overall, excellent value for money compared to other hotels in the area.

United StatesThe Wi-Fi was super sluggish, would not call this “high speed internet”.
Our room was very comfortable, the bathroom had heated floors which was wonderful. The hot tub gave us something to do in the evenings! Breakfast is pretty standard, nothing special.

CanadaLocation is maybe a little out of the way but not a huge deal. The breakfast was also different than what I'm used to, but again just a small factor!
This room was super affordable and probably the best budget choice I made while I was in Iceland. I was late to my check in time and the front desk left me an envelope with a key and directions to my room as I didn't arrive until about 10:45pm. The room was spacious, enough for me to have my suitcase open and walk around without it being tight. + a desk and chair, lots of extra towels, etc. There's also lots of windows letting in natural light. I liked it here.

Our 7 year old daughter has a dairy and egg allergy. At breakfast they had a vegan section including dairy free milk, dairy free butter and dairy free cheese. This significantly helped us as it allowed our daughter to have a decent breakfast.

United KingdomNo mirror in bedroom (only bathroom), TV received 1 channel only, bathroom door mechanism required a bit of effort to open & close, problematic for me with a bad shoulder, even my husband found it difficult, no way to keep passers by from looking in other than to close blackout curtains. All that said, everything apart from the bathroom door were minor inconveniences & I would stay here again
Staff helpful, dinner - interesting choices, room reasonable size,

CyprusRooms could be a bit bigger to better accommodate two people with the kind of suitcases and gear everybody has on a trip like this to Iceland.
Excellent hotel with really nice rooms. Rooms tend though to be a bit small. Bathrooms are luxurious though and a good size. The location although really scenic, can be a bit remote for some, as its about 20km off the main road to Reykjavik. Just stating this as Booking.com shows it closer to the main road than it is. However a great place. Excellent amenities, very nice breakfast, outdoor hot tub that residents can use and free parking on the property. Would definitely recommend.

United StatesThe location is a bit remote in a small rural setting.
The breakfast was excellent. It was not a typical large buffet breakfast but there was plenty to eat. We loved the Skyr and the fresh bread. There was plenty of fruit, cereal, eggs, meat, cheeses, and waffles. Hotel Vos is a lovely hotel in a small rural town (about 20 minutes from the city of Hella). The staff is fantastic. They were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and super clean. There is a jacuzzi that guests can use. The location, while remote and rural, is close to the Gloden Circle and quite central if you want to visit the southern cities of Vik and Hoffn.
